Gunsmithing Heaviest reasonable barrel contour on Howa, Tikka and Remington?

What would you think is the heaviest barrel contour at let's say 26 inches on a Howa 1500, Tikka T3 and Remington M700? thanks again. This would be without sleaving an action. I have sleaved a M700 to take some huge contours, but I am talking about a PSR or hunting rifle.

what are your thoughts on boots?

Danner isn't my favorite but I have good luck with them. Never had a pair that didn't fit, though their wide is like anyone else medium. The Blackhawk deserts are ok, but if you are deployed longer than 6 months you'll need to take 2 pairs with you. Probably a good idea anyway.

Hunting & Fishing Arizona, hunting and shooting relocation guide? Fort Huachuca?

Just looked at the San Carlos and White Mountain Indian reservation hunts. Pretty affordable, especially the management bull hunts. I have spoken to several folks woh have hunted the management bull hunts and shot great bulls that would be trophy bulls anywhere else.

Hunting & Fishing Arizona, hunting and shooting relocation guide? Fort Huachuca?

Thanks guys, we are considering it. Job pays enough that even if I hate the job, I'll have the extra cash to do the hunts I want to do. A friend of mine told me last night that there is no such thing as a bad job, only ones that don't pay as well. In this economy I would tend to agree.

Hunting & Fishing Packing a rifle on a horse

With big 30 and 34mm optics and bigger longer barrels it's hard to find a saddle scabbard that works with a PSR. Does anyone know of custom canvas or leather folks that make bigger scabbards for a PSR?

Gunsmithing 30-06 and 8x68 based cartridges in aics magazines?

    How do the 30-06 (338-06, 35 whelan, 9.3x62 etc) and 8x68S (9.3x64, 6.5x68S) feed out of a 300 Win AICS magazine?

    Gunsmithing Carbon wrapping a barrel

Thanks, I did just that and it was a good read. Seems that the new Proof Company is not the same as the old one.

Hunting & Fishing Arizona, hunting and shooting relocation guide? Fort Huachuca?

I got offered a job on Fort Huchuca as a civillian. I am retired military so it will be nice to have accesss to base services. The job pays enough that we should be able to afford to hunt beyond Arizona, but it would be nice to hunt in Arizona as well. Anyone live down there, how is the...

    Gunsmithing Carbon wrapping a barrel

I was at a the Wild Sheep Foundation Convention trade show while on post-deployment leave and went into Christensens booth to be treated like a valued customer, until an older gent walked in with what appeared to be deeper pockets. I was pushed aside like old newspapers. This was a few years...

F T/R Competition Shooting my first f-class with my AI

Not knocking fullbore, but at least our club, and the clubs I have shot at in Australia are full of 70-90 year old men, who hate F-anything.

F T/R Competition Shooting my first f-class with my AI

XTR, You are missing my point. I am not out to get tacti-cool. I shoot F-Class every Saturday here in Australia on a Fullbore range, with fullbore shooters laying on the ground 20 feet away. I know who and where F-class comes from, that's not my problem. My problem is that F-Class and...

    Gunsmithing Carbon wrapping a barrel

I know there is good and bad to both sides, but beyond Magnum Research and Christensens who sell pre-wrapped barrels, is anyone offering wrapping as a service? Christensens sent me an email a few days ago to let me know they do not wrap other manufacteruers barrels.

F T/R Competition Shooting my first f-class with my AI

Crap, I was hoping that the F-Class/Highpower man-love drama would not exist in the United States. I didn't know it was that way, I have 7 months left in Australia (where I started shooting F-Class in 2010) and we have the same bullshit here. Maybe I'll just shoot tac matches and forget about it.

Tactical Shooters Equipment - What the pros use...

Here in Australia, our sniper and F-Class matches are shot on the same course. Bearing in mind that, Australian gun laws are draconian, and the concept of "practicing for war" is illegal. So the PRS shoots are pretty tame. Shooting marked targets doesn't mean you chase the marker, if you do...

Tactical Shooters Equipment - What the pros use...

I think there is some cross over with what we are shooting Tactical (these lads call them Practical) and F-Class with here in Australia. The 6mm/22-250 wildcats are taking over. 6.5's were in vogue when I started in 2010, but they have fallen by the wayside. The 284 is coming back and a lot...

    F T/R Competition New F-TR rifle

We shoot night shoots two or three times a month, somewhere in the neghborhood of 300-500 meters. We usually shoot at a "flyshoot target".

    F T/R Competition New F-TR rifle

Sorry, no F-standard is Australian F-Class. F-Open is the same as America. I am working in Australia for another 7 months. I didn't realize it was not called F-Standard in America, as I have only been shooting it since I moved to Australia in 2010. Honestly I had never even thought to look...

    F T/R Competition New F-TR rifle

So true, today's shoot was only 5 Standard to 3 open. No wind and everyone did well. I try very hard to recruit folks to F-Standard, only our 1000 yard shoots and 300 yard night shoots draw big open crowds anyway.
