    Considerations on a new build

Always hilarious. That is until your retinas get assaulted!! I concur with the advice about the contour making more difference wrt weight than 2". I'm not looking for a heavy barrel or a pencil barrel. IF I stick with 18" then something along the hybrid or hanson profiles - around 2#...

    Considerations on a new build

Appreciate the offer on the scope. It's the first scope I bought back in 2007. Back then it had mil dots and moa turrets. Now it has the TS32 moa reticle (cool, but busy) and moa turrets. I'm sentimental. I can't shake the idea that it belongs on a R700 in .308.

    Considerations on a new build

@roostercogburn98, I'm tracking with you on the barrel and bolt combo. I'm a big believer in a complete system and am not opposed to a complete rifle, but had hoped to be able to get to the same destination with a few high quality components chosen to work well together. That said, I would...

    Considerations on a new build

Gents, Thanks in advance for your replies. Currently shooting a RRA 3 gun model that I picked up in 2014. Great, but heavy rifle. It holds a minute and a half out to 700 with Frontier 75 gr and Freedom munitions 77gr. Currently running a leupold Mk4 LRT in 3.5 to 10 with a TS 32 MOA...

    CZ 457

Gents, Please forgive the naive but sincere questions: Is the 457 really a huge step up fro the Ruger American I am currently shooting? Because for $500 (varmint model at Bud's) that's a step I could make. I shoot CCI standard velocity mainly, but run some golden bullets when hunting...

    Magnum primers in a 30-06

Thanks for the reply. Do you have a chamber (Serengeti or some other special reamer) set up for heavy bullets? i'll give it a try. God bless America

    Magnum primers in a 30-06

Gents, i read a while back about someone using magnum primers and RL26 on a 30-06. My chamber is SAAMI. I'd like to shoot the sierra 175's or the 195's from hornady - leaning towards the 175's. Reason I ask is that I've got magnum primers and RL 26. Has anyone done this? Should I just...

    Shot timers

Gents, Seeing recommendations for a shot timer. Currently use the PACT club timer and have used the CED timer. Looking for something robust and simple to use. Thanks in advance. God bless America

One and done custom gun to replace old Rem700 SPS-V 308

Solid advice from Greg. A friend of mine - also a marine - shot a 700 PSS with a Jewell trigger. That rifle was 1/2 MOA to 600 with his hand loads. If you're still on fire for a custom, and a switch barrel, @reubenski has posted a lot of good info. Finally, don't spend any money until you...

    Source of supply

Gents, Can any of you recommend a source for parts - building an upper or two. Aero has been highly recommended in the past but looks like a LOT of their stuff is out of stock. Same story with Brownells. I'm looking for a 14 ish bbl that I'll pin and weld my flash suppressor to. Looking at...

    Shot timers

I'm getting the AMG. when I get more money. @hookedonbrass, pm me if you want to take a chance for cheap on a CED that doesn't power up at present. If you're inclined to take stuff apart, and it still works after you do, might be a way for you to get into a mediocre shot timer for postage...

    Shot timers

I'll have to check that one out. Concur on the CED, and it decided to stop taking a charge after a year and a half. Looking at the Mk IV from PACT as well. Whatever I end up with, I'd like it to be the last one I have to get. God bless America

Movie Theater Most realistic/unrealistic action/shooter movies?

"Way of the gun" actual fight scenes were OK - dudes get hurt, and shot, and people miss - a lot, and have to do stuff besides pull the trigger, but the rest of the movie didn't do much for me. Never could get behind a bad guy. God bless America

Ruptured Achilles tendon this afternoon, what's next...

Like many here I had the bicep thing in '97. Got it sewed back on, started deadlifting with a hook grip and surpassed previous numbers. The same is in store for you. VERY IMPORTANT: do what they say WRT PT. If they tell you to rest, rest. When it's time to go, then don't take counsel of...
