anyone running 180 accubond out of a 308

Accu-bonds are extremely accurate out of both my 270 and 300 Win. Mag. I've shot some big game with them, and they expand well. They don't blow up on bone. With the appropriate bullet weight, they should work fine on bear....

300 Win. Mag. and Retumbo powder?

Thanks for the advice.....I'll give both those powders a try.

300 Win. Mag. and Retumbo powder?

I'm developing a load for paper punching as well as hunting. I know that 180 grain bullets don't have as good a ballistic coefficiency as heavier bullets, so I'm going to try 200 grain bullets. It seems like most Sporting Goods stores don't stock bullets heavier than 180 grains in 30 caliber...

300 Win. Mag. and Retumbo powder?

I made it to town yesterday with hopes of finding some H 1000, or R-22 powder. I've been looking for some Accu-bond 200 grain bullets too. Well, as usual I couldn't find any of that. I did find some Retumbo powder. I need to start working up a new load for my 300 Win Mag. I was using...

Can I get away with just neck sizing on my semi-auto?

People used to tell me to neck size only for better accuracy. I tried that, and didn't notice any difference in the size of my groups. Then my bolt started getting really hard to close. I went back to full length resizing and have never looked back. I'd think that neck sizing only would...

What am I doing wrong with this Lee Factory Crimp Die?

I'd just like to add that I love my Lee Crimp Die. None of my bullets have a canllelured. (Did I spell that right?) Just don't over do the crimp. A light crimp is all I put on mine. Those loads are proving extremely accurate....

    .22-250? Any one shoot it?

I love the 22-250 I have now. Back in 68 I was still in high scool. I saved all my money from bucking hay bails, and bought a Remington 22-250 BDL with a 22 inch barrel and Redfield scope. I was thinking about getting a 222 magnum back then, but settled on the 22-250. I was young and...

    .22-250? Any one shoot it?

I've had a couple 22-250's in Remington 700. The one I have now has a 24 inch barrel. It may be the most accurate rifle I have. I use Hornady 53 grain, Match, Hollow pts. on prairie dogs and coyotes. It's very explosive. A great cartridge for varmits....

    Midway Back Order?

I'll bet many of you order from Midway. I just ordered a Timney trigger for my Remington 700 rifle, and some Accu-bond bullets. Anybody have a guess on how long a wait time a person might have. Both are back ordered. I was also going to order some RL-22 powder somewhere. Anybody know of a...

Pressure signs on 300 Win Mag.

Is IMR 4350 powder worth trying? I'd rather use RL-22 or H1000 and some 200 grain bullets, but I may not be able to find any for a few weeks. I do have a can of IMR 4350 and mostly 180 grain bullets stashed away. I know I can lower the pressure by moving my bullets back, but usually...

    J.W. Hornady

In 1968 I was 17 years old and had been reloading for a few years. As long as I didn't blow the house up, my Dad said it was okay. I figured I was going to be the next Jack O'connor and spent all my free time hunting in Western Montana. I took a picture of a big buck I shot with a Hornady...

Hunting & Fishing Any trappers out there?

I used to trap a fair number of beaver, fox, coon, and coyote in Eastern Montana. The best trapping for beaver was in the Spring right after the ice goes out. I'd take a canoe down the Missouri and use mostly conibear sets. Leg holds and drowning sets worked good too, but it was just easier...

Pressure signs on 300 Win Mag.

I was thinking of trying H1000 or RL22 next, if I can find any. Thanks for your thoughts on this. I am learning a lot from you guys.....

Need help with jamming in barrel

My son-in-law has a new Stag Arms AR-15. He had two different, jammed cases (in the chamber) yesterday. We had to use a cleaning rod to nock the brass out of the chamber. The bolt wouldn't pull it out. I suspect a hot load. His rifle is supposed to be able to shoot 223 and 5.56 ammo. It...

Pressure signs on 300 Win Mag.

I need to buy a micrometer. I had one, but lost the darn thing someplace.....I took an old case and cut a slice out of the neck with a hack saw. Then I seated a bullet long into the case. I chambered it letting the lands push the bullet deeper into the case. I used that as a guide for my...

Pressure signs on 300 Win Mag.

I did some shooting yesterday, trying to find an accurate load. I know my loads are getting too hot, but my rifle seems to group the best with my hottest load. (At least with that powder and bullet). The temperature is increasing outdoors. Yesterday was like our warmest day all...
