The 226 is now available in an SAO version. I had previously not been a fan of sigs (or any other da/sa gun for that matter) solely due to the trigger configuration. Since I learned about the 226 Elite SAO a couple weeks ago I have been considering picking one up. Personally I'm a 1911 fan...
Haven't seen any at normal prices until very recently. My local Cabelas had mini mags, limit 1 box ($9/100rnd box), and just today my local walmart had winchester super-x 37gr, limit 3 boxes ($6/100rnd box). One of the LGS has had some bulk 22 for a while, but the price is too high for me -...
For close to $1k, I'd pick a Colt
In the middle of your range, Dan Wesson is my 1st choice, but I like my springer too so the Trp would be a close 2nd
At the top of the range, a Baer or used Ed Brown
Why? Because I've owned all of them at some point and they've all been 100% for me. I've...
Thanks for the input guys; I had it in my mind that compressing a load would increase pressure dangerously. I'll load up the rest and just carefully examine the brass after each shot, which I would be doing anyway of course. Dan, I'm glad you responded - I'm going by the OCW procedure on your...
I'm loading my first batch of .308, decided to try some 155 amax over IMR 4064 in Lapua brass with Remington 9 1/2 primers. COAL is 2.805.
My plan was to load a batch with charges weighing 41-45.5 grains, but I got to 43.8 grains and it looks like this will be a compressed load - the powder...
My brother picked one of these up a few months ago and really likes it. I'm like you, a 1911 guy but I'll have to say I was quite impressed with the PPQ as well. Very good for a stock trigger, take up was a bit gritty but it comes to a "hard wall" and then breaks crisply and consistently - I...
I really don't have the reloading experience to tell you whether or not that case is good to go. I do have enough life experience to say that I would toss it. Is one piece of brass worth any amount of trouble that may come of it? Not in my opinion.
Can you explain, or point me towards an article that explains "proper" full length sizing? I'm about to start loading .308 and am going to FLS but of course would like to extend brass life as long as possible. Thanks
Love my FN SPR as well. Give Mike a call, here's his website: AR15, M16, M4 Tactical Gear, Parts, Accessories, Optics, Sniper Rifles, Piston Systems, AR15 M4 Uppers & Lowers Lowest Prices Tactical Coordination
Correct. I can't help you out with the cheekpiece question though, I bought an A1 model specifically because it didn't come with a cheekpiece. I'm planning on sending mine off to have KMW loggerhead adjustable hardware installed.
I picked up my SPR A1 yesterday that I ordered from Mike @ Tac Cord. This is my first centerfire precision rifle; I've got a savage MK II TR that I bought to get started in bolt gun shooting about a year ago.
Great day at the range today - it was 67 F when I got to the range at 8:00 am...
Glad to hear they are going to get you fixed up, still haven't heard anything negative about Manners.
I'm in Ft. Worth too, what type of precision rifle matches are there in this area (I'm just starting to shoot rifles long range)?
I've got my first precision bolt gun on order and it will be here in a couple weeks and I need to get set up to reload rifle cartridges (.308 mostly). I've got a Lee classic turret press, which is what I'll have to use until I get my hands on a Co-Ax. I've also got a priming tool, case cleaning...
Whereabouts in Tx are you?
I hear good things about the PST (and their other lines as well) but have never seen/used a Vortex. I do have a fixed 10x SWFA SS and like it a lot; they also recently released a 3-15x version for $700, so that may be something you are interested in. True, neither...
Rem 700 5r isn't far from $1k new, usually right under if you buy used.
I'm in the same boat as you though, been saving for quite some time for my first long range precision rifle. I chose .308, and if you don't reload that is the best option. I take the buy once, cry once philosophy - I...
Call CS tactical, sport optics, liberty optics, or cameraland NY and ask for the Snipers Hide price, the price they quote you will be a good price for the XRS.
