Is there an advantage to getting a gun cerakoted other than looks? I have a 308 in ar platform with stainless barrel and burris tac 30 on it. Would the coating extend the life of my barrel? Does it even go inside the bore i dont know. Thanks for any info

I have a cmmg 308 looking to scope up. Thinking Burris full field 2 4.5-14 x 42 or swfa ss 3-9 x 42. Which would be a better scope. Mostly paper punching but will be deer hunting in iowa and would eventually like to go west after elk. Any suggestions?
