I have a nice 300 win rifle using Surgeon bottom metal. One of my 3 mags falls out under recoil nearly every shot. These are 5 round AI mags. The other two are just fine and rather than shitcanning an expensive mag I'd like to fix it. Any suggestions? I dont want to sell it and give someone...
I've even set the dies to cam over with the same problem. It's just odd that those cases wont chamber even when I put a different bullet in the mix. I suppose it could be coincidence. It just seems odd and it's damned frustrating. At this point I'm most likely to abandon the most accurate...
Standard dial caliper. I know SMKs are all over on length but I believe the dies seat on the ogive so would they not chamber the same regardless of the OAL of the bullet?
I will check OAL. Virgin pulldown brass. This problem only occurs in about 3 of 50 rounds loaded. I loaded length to where it was putting out the best groups. 3.450 is where I'm at with most fitting the chamber fine. I know it's in excess of the SAAMI 3.340 but I find it odd that most fit...
Okay, here's the problem. I am running pulldown MK248 brass. I run it through my size die ( FL Hornady ) It is then loaded with a Sierra 190 SMK. Some of the rounds will not chamber. I measured the cases and they are no longer than the ones that fit. I pulled the bullets on the ones that...
Out of my budget, that's group buy territory for me. I'm going to try the Mk248 brass and some RL22 with 208 amax and see how it does. I've got 100 Norma I got months ago, should have ordered more then.
just ordered some Mk248 pulldown brass from southwest. Hopefully this will be a good solution. I may go ahead and order up some PRVI to try out though.
I need to load a couple hundred rounds of win mag for a class. Norma, win, hornady brass is rare as hens teeth right now. I see prvi in stock. Is it worth buying or should I hold out hope for Norma in the next couple months?
Assembling components right now for 300 win mag loads. My rifle when completed will have a 22" 1:10 twist. I'm planning to start off with the 208 AMAX. Powders are Win 780, H1000, and Retumbo. I'm wanting to maximize barrel life and it's most often going to be shot at 800-1000 yds and I'm...
Wish it were here. Saw your goodies up here at the Oregon Sniper Challenge. Cool stuff and on my shopping list. The guys at TNVC really do know their stuff. I was impressed.
Anybody have a photo of the naked versapod mount in their manners stock? I ordered this option in my T2A. I havent yet ordered up my bipod and have been thinking of options. I have been thinking of ordering the Versapod battlepack and would like to know any other options to consider that will...
New to the win mag here. I have a rifle in progress being pieced together. Defiance Deviant action on order, Proof Research 1:10 22" barrel, Manners T2, Badger FTE brake. With my action date of 01/14 I've got a while to gather components. I've got some Norma brass coming and want to build...
I'm actually thinking I'll swap quite a bit. Planning for a Gemtech sandstorm at 13oz and figured with the heavy 8oz of the FTE it would minimize POI shift. This will be hanging off a proof research barrel. I expect the rifle to come out very light with a proof barrel, defiance action and...
I'm building a 300 win mag and have been looking towards the Badger FTE for a muzzle brake. It seems to meet a few basic requirements of being easy to attach/remove and it's weight should minimize the POI shift when removing it and using a suppressor. I'd appreciate any advice on other brakes...
