I'd have thought a sling on a shotgun was no different than any other firearm. A decent 2 point sling that attaches with QD mounts to the side of the shotgun would be my preference. If you only have old school sling swivels then it's going to be considerably less useful.
As I just posted above, playing with the rifles next to each other definitely shows the strengths and weaknesses of each model. If you can, I'd say try playing with the rifles before buying.
I hate all the stabby bits that dig into you and get caught on everything for a rifle being used in the field carried, slung etc, I had the opportunity to play with an AT-X next to an AT and felt the AT was but far the nicer handling rifle, if it was a field shooting/hunting rifle it was the...
If it makes you feel any better I'm getting a 223AI barrel done and putting alll my eggs in the 88gr ELD-M basket. I plan to shoot the 75 BTHP as a cheaper alternative, but am really hoping to get 88s to 2850+. Having shot 223 myself and watching others, you really want as much of an advantage...
I was bidding on an AW at auction a few years back and once the price started approaching AT level decided it wasn't worth it as the AT is basically the same rifle but with improvements. In hindsight I should've bought it as it went quite cheap (considering) but the AT would still have been the...
The AT also has QD sling mounts rather than HK loops, which I think is also a nice upgrade. There is an additional central QD mount just about the pistol grip. The option for forend side Keyslot is also a nice addition. Although not a cheap upgrade if you want pic rails up front.
Genuine question. How do you think 6k is possible, if 3000 rounds is all guys are getting from a 22BR with 88s around 2900-3000fps? I'm building a 223AI and hoping to get 88s to around 2850, I see people saying barrel life will only be 3000 rounds, other saying it'll be 10,000. Numbers for...
When the Mark 5hd 2-10 was launched there were a lot of complaints about the weight, stupid 35mm tube and only 30mm objective lens. There wasn't anyone in those threads arguing people are stupid for making these complaints. Just imagine in NF release a 2-10x30, it could be SFP with a MOAR...
The Tikka does come in 223 though and could do with longer COAL. I'm not keen to start hacking away at my 223 CTR magazines as they are expensive and not as easy to come by as 223 AICS magazines. I don't particularly like AICS mags, so if some longer (and higher capacity) 223 mags were possible...
If you wanted to try a different powder you could try Benchmark. It's not often spoken about in these heavier bullets but I've found it to give much better velocity than Varget. A different seating depth would probably be a better place to start though.
@st1650 not an AW magazine but definitely a potential candidate for a future high capacity 223 magazine. Could also be a potential basis for a multical XM length Tikka build, CTR/TRG magazines will play nicely will a Tikka.
Looks like OP is in Italy so chances are CTR magazines are pretty expensive as well (at least compared to AICS). If it works out it could open the door to many other options as well, >10 shot magazines, 223/BR magazines, 223 magazines with much great mag capacity. I've been toying with the...
You're not crazy, I would've guessed you would be fine with your barrel length and 75 ELD-Ms, even Hornadys website says 1:8. You could try 73gr ELD-Ms, they should be more tolerant to a slower twist and the BC is similar to that of the 75. The 75 BTHP could also be worth trying, the BC is...
Hopefully it works out. Would be great for people with TRGs to have more options available. Modifying it for 223 CTR usage would be pretty easy, just make the feed lips thicker. Same way they do for the factory magazines. What are you going to do for springs?
I was thinking of doing something similar for 223 CTR magazines with a longer coal. Will be interesting to see how these turn out. Are you going to thicken up the sidewalls much? The TRG/CTR sheet metal is pretty thin.
Have you seen how much 90s Japanese cars like the Supra, RX7 and Skyline can fetch these days. You used to be able to by them for next to nothing. The same goes for most things in life, when something becomes out dated or replaced by a new model it's worthless. Once 99% of said item is no...
