    Wheeler/Midway Paint

Re: Wheeler/Midway Paint I used it on a replacement main spring housing for one of my 1911's several years back. Its seen a lot of use with no problems so far. Perhaps the painter didn't get all the oil off the metal surface.

Stock options for Savage 110 tactical in 308

Re: Stock options for Savage 110 tactical in 308 Try it without bedding it first. Mine shot so well, I left it alone. I'm sure I just got lucky, but who knows, maybe you'll win the lottery too.

Stock options for Savage 110 tactical in 308

Re: Stock options for Savage 110 tactical in 308 I've got a Duramaxx on a Savage .308 that I don't have a single complaint about, but when I built a heavy barrel .30-06, I ordered a woodchuck from Kevin at Stockade. Great guy, great product.

    How much powder

Re: How much powder For what its worth: This is a public forum, things posted here are admissible in court, and we might not have the friendliest DOJ right now. Its just a suggestion, but if you are in violation of the law, its probably best not to say so.

    Sierra matchkings for hunting?

Re: Sierra matchkings for hunting? As noted above, the military uses what its allowed to use. That does not mean its the best thing out there (think about handgun ammo--if you were shooting at Johnnie Jihad up close with a 9mm, would you rather use hollow points or FMJs?). They make hunting...

.22-250 GTG at 100, not so GTG at 200.....

Re: .22-250 GTG at 100, not so GTG at 200..... Just an opinion. 200yds seems a little short for hidden flaws in a load to start showing up. Maybe you were having a little trouble with the wind, or maybe just a little off your game. Or maybe you were just really on the ball at 100yds...

    .308 175 grain handholding

Re: .308 175 grain handholding A great deal of happiness seems to be found between 43gr and 44gr of Varget (43.5 is magic in mine, and seems to shoot pretty well in most guns). Start with 42gr, work up in 0.5gr increments, five shots each. I tend to do initial test groups at about 50yds...

308 rd hard to extract from chamber..bolt gun

Re: 308 rd hard to extract from chamber..bolt gun I think suasponte is correct, the back end of the shell isn't being properly sized for that chamber. I used to have some LC brass that was particularly stubborn in this area and creating much the same problem (my reason for the semi-auto...
