Fieldcraft Are we too dependant on electronics?????

Re: Are we too dependant on electronics????? In 05 in a stan we spent 30+ days in the field. That battery estimate is grossly exaggerated. Troops can stay in the field just as long if not longer nowadays due to technological advances. I obviously agree that a need for the fundamental basics...

Barrel Length for a 6.5 Creedmor??

Re: Barrel Length for a 6.5 Creedmor?? No, I fully realize that there are multiple tapers for barrels. I just have rifles with longers barrels. Now I would like a short barrel. Almost mimicking the XM3 the Marine Corps had out for a while.

Barrel Length for a 6.5 Creedmor??

Re: Barrel Length for a 6.5 Creedmor?? So my question for everybody who runs a 28" rifle... how well do you shoot from the sitting position, and the kneeling position, and the standing position? Or do these "tactical" matches consist of laying in the dirt with bipods where weight and balance...

Barrel Length for a 6.5 Creedmor??

Re: Barrel Length for a 6.5 Creedmor?? I understand that an 18" barrel will not maximize the potential of the 6.5 CM... that is not my goal. If I want to shoot a target super far away I will use my 338... and I already have a .308 with a 24 inch barrel... now I am looking to build a LIGHT...

Barrel Length for a 6.5 Creedmor??

Re: Barrel Length for a 6.5 Creedmor?? The max barrel length I am willing to go is 20".. I am more apt to change the caliber to meet the barrel requirement. The point of the short barrel is to have a light weight, easy to swing, mini stick....

Barrel Length for a 6.5 Creedmor??

So I am thinking about putting together short bolt gun. I like the 6.5 CM. I already have a .308. The intent of this rifle would be to have a light, easy to swing, low recoil, rifle used for tactical bolt gun comps. I only need to stretch out to 800 yards. So how short can I still go? I would...

So I got my GAP built 338 LM, I have been reloading for a few years for smaller calibers like .308 and 30-06 so I am far from a expert but have the basics down for sure. I decided it was time to step up to the big leagues and make the jump to a large magnum caliber to really reach out and touch...
