I agree with an earlier post that those thin Burris rings are your weak link. They'll be fine until you have to abuse them. If you like Burris...get a set of XTR's and call it good. Nice setup. okie

The OP's already decided but to those still concidering...there are a lot of really reliable, accurate options in big bore AR's out there, just research and pick the one that fits you best. I really like JP and LMT but dont have a lot of time with each. I do have a lot of time with Armalite...

Yes. on reciever on the left side right next to the bolt it says: "CESKOSLOVENSKA ZBROJOVKA, A.S, BRNO".... and directly under that..."VZ.24". On the right side of the reciever just behind the barrel it says "Model 98". On the barrel on the left side just in front of the reciever it has "98"...

Thanks Joop but this is not an old rifle. Got a good look at it today (since I bought it :) ) and its a Model 98. Havn't tried to find the year of its make yet but I'm betting its no older than the 80's and maybe newer. Like I said, fit and finish are great w/ nice wood and a beutiful single...

Yeah, certainly nothing special about the 30-30...unless its just its history.... but I doubt any cartrage has killed more whitetail deer in this country with the exception of the 22lr. It gets the job done. okie
