Range finding binoculars, and a tripod are a must in my opinion. Leave all unnecessary stuff in your car and 5min will go by in the blink of an eye. Good luck, see you there.
On the 691 a ptg was almost a drop in with a little cleaning up of the factory inlet. I also have the cdi bottom metal and with that I had to open up the factory inlet quit a bit. But this is all on the long action I hope you have the same luck with the short.
Re: Kansas I live in dighton and have seen some big whitetails, but I think that the mulie are hanging out in the milo. But they are starting to cut that so I am hoping to see some hogs.
Re: Idea for cheap steel I have been shooting RR tie plates. They are 13"x8", i just cut up spikes and weld them into the holes. I have been shooting them with the 308 with out any marks on them at all.
