Ruger, my last Sig 1911 was nothing but problems. after a few trips back to Sig, I ditched the gun. It really sound like Ruger did their homework and got this one right.
Thanks for all the help and info provided. I would imagine that to fill my large gouges in the ground would be pretty damn expensive. It looks the original land owner maybe sold dirt and did a few scrapes with a belly digger or something, who knows. Anyway, we don't get a whole lot of rain so...
Did not really think too much about drainage as we don't get too much rain but perhaps I should factor that in. I'll have to get out there survey the land a bit better to see what will work.
I like the tire idea, thanks. I have a spot on the property that looks like someone started to do dig out and it's probably 50 yards @ 3' down. With the young children shooting (Always attended and coached), I wouldn't mind some type of side reinforcement if it's practical. It's just still a...
I hear ya' for sure. I have been wanting to do this for years and never thought I would be able to actually get it done. I wish I could do more than 100yds but that's all I want to stick with at this point. This will give the kids a nice practice area and I can still work on the skills. I...
Looking at building a personal 100 yard range on some property. I was thinking of bringing in a front end loader to scrape down about 4-6 feet for the full 100 yards and use that dirt as a backing burm. Anyone have something like this they could help with advice?
I see PWS sells their new rifles with free floated barrel set ups. My non-free floated PWS is an absolute tack driver and damn near keeps up with my bolt gun in regards to accuracy. The previous design just plain worked so I am a bit surprised they made changes. Does anyone have the low down...
Thanks a bunch folks. I am considering shaving my front sight to run a free float tube and just enjoy the barrel I already have. Lots of good points to be considered were addressed here so thanks again!
Sounds like I will personally gain nothing from going to the MK18. I think I'm leaning towards keeping this and just shooting it. It looks like I already have a solid platform. I appreciate the feedback, thoughts and info on velocities and such....
I am not really concerned with the slight loss in accuracy and FPS. I have a couple AR10's for reaching out if needed. I like the longer free float rails but it's not a requirement. It would be nice to have a flip up front sight but on the same token, I am used to running a fixed with my EoTech...
The factory 11.5 upper works great, no complaints. I have been toying with the idea of getting the DD MK18 upper.Seems like the MK18 gets rave reviews and I can get one at a great price. I would be selling my factory 11.5 to fund the MK18. Is there really any big advantage of swapping to the...
Re: Remington scoremaster 511?? You guys are making me feel better already. I paid $150 for the 511 w/ 4 mags (two ten rounders and two five rounders). I felt that the price was fair given the bad timing and overall market. My kid commandeered my Mark II so I needed something to shoot for...
Re: Remington scoremaster 511?? Thanks! I am stoked to go out and put rounds through it. I looked into the 513T and I have to find one now... Love these old rifles!
