Out of curiosity, check country of origin of your old xtr rings vs new. These are no longer made in Greeley, CO. I've used the older version (made in Greeley) on several guns, without issue. Have only had a problem with 1 pair, and as it turned out, they were made in China.
Had a 3x9x33 EFR. It was widely popular with the rimfire and airgun crowd, so gave it a try on a high end air rifle. Overall the scope was ok, but didn't leave me with a feeling of excitement. Given the cost vs distances shot with my airgun, I sold it. I currently own 2 Mk IV scopes. 1)...
I have the 10fcp hs precision, in .308. It is a solid .5 moa gun. It seems to shoot that with any 168 gr match I have put through it so far. Don't think you can go wrong with your choice. As others have said, put on a good base, rings and glass and you should be good to go.

Hey FBH, By the description in your post I'm thinkin it was my TRR your talking about. Had a chance to feel it out last Sat. Pulled in .324" for 5 shots at 100 yds, with 168gr FGMM. I'd say its performance lived up to GAP's promise. Tough to go wrong with their guns.
