Hello, I currently hand-load Hornandy 308 178grn bthp match bullets. I'm going to be switch to Hornandy 308 178 grn Eld. Being the fact the bullets are the same weight and similar do I need to work up a new load development or simply re-zero my rifle? I keep going back and forth with this. So...

Sir not having it is different than preferring and I was asking why someone would prefer a sling instead of a bipod. But again it is not more stable. I do agree with everything else you said.

I use a sling and encourage it in the seated, kneeling and standing but never gave it much thought for prone. I think that there are better slings than the 1907 such as the Ares Armor sniper sling ( I have and use). I started with the 1907 and upgraded. This is just me though.

Well because I don't know of anyone using a sling and since this is a conversation I wanted to explore new areas and topics and possibly learn something new. I don't see the benefit of using a sling when there are other options available, but again this is why I chimed in.

slings have come a long way since the 1907 sling. Ares armor has one of the best slings I've ever seen and used for sniper weapon systems. As far a prone goes I'm staying with a bipod or rucksack just overall more stable.

I don't know of anyone using a sling to assist in the prone position. Your body should be straight behind the rifle, feet flat on the ground and push into the rifle (loading the bipod).

From my experience with all of the manufacturers you named, I stand by my words. I have both RRA and Colts in my armories for years. On the L.E. side and Government. I had and have no problems with RRA. I have seen problems with every manufacture but to say you would rather have a dmps says a...

I shoot 178 grn Hornady bthp with 45 grn of varget powder out of a 20 ' 5r suppressed. Mv is 2704fps (trued) stays supersonic out to 1145 yds. Ive had no problems hitting targets at 1250yds.

pm on the way, but the OCW (Dan Newberry) method for load development is the gospel.
