Here is my load for my 17" barrel. 308 lapua brass neck turned and sized down. 40.0 gr varget seated .010 off the lands. Only 2550 fps but very accurate. Sub .5 moa. Im about to load some for a friends new custom. It will be a 22" barrel. Going to try 2000 mr first.

Yea that #5 bart is pretty heavy. I ordered one for a tikka build and it ended up being a bit heavy. Sent it to Kampfield to spiral flute it to help. Very nice build.

7mm08 I have a 17" one and it drops everything in its tracks. Recoil is kinda heavy for the rifle but loaded with 140s it gets much better than the 168s. 300+lb hog, 315yds

I have the HS-T on my shorty/hunting rifle. I have used it quite a bit and it has been great. I really like FFP on my comp rifle but for a rifle you do not plan on shooting comps with this is a great scope for the money.

I have a T6 and T6A. I love them, I have used a T2 before the t6 and prefer the thinner forend of the t6 and the angle on it. It is all personal preference but I don't think you could go wrong with a t6...

Scotty I have not tried the 180s. I don't see a reason to as the 168s work great. I have used 168, 162amax, and 140 bergers.

Got my hunting 708 done this year and finally made it out in the field. I shoot 168 berger classic with it and have been impressed. Dropped a big hog and head shot a doe and blew a heart out of a spike.

Going the 7mm route! If it were me in that barrel length I would go straight 708. I don't see any advantages of going 284, or 708ai with a barrel under 26". If you don't mind brass prep, lapua 308 brass necked down and turned is working awesome in my short barrel 708. I use win brass in my 26"...

Thanks guys. These were the first animals killed with my new hunting rifle. I have to say the bergers work. And there is nothing better than hearing the thump of the bullet at 300 yards with a can on the end of the rifle.
