Response to a PM from Sean: The expanding mandrel and the 5c collet block set was purchased from Shars Tools. I think the 5c collet set came from Grizzly Tools but my memory is a little fuzzy. I'm a believer in "Buy quality tools and cry once or buy cheap and cry every time you use them"...
I have often seen/heard this incomplete quote. It usually applies to tools, firearms certainly belonging to the gruop. Buy quality and cry once, buy cheap and cry every time you use it.
Thanks for the responses. I viewed the videos by Joe Carlos. I contacted him with additional questions. He convinced me that the lapping tool sold by Brownell's and similar products sold by others was not the best way to go when truing up the receiver face. Further research on the internet...
I have a Rock River Arms NM A4 20 Inch CMP Rifle (2016) LAR-15, which is used in NRA High Power and CMP shooting. The current original barrel is showing some throat erosion. I purchased a 20” HBAR replacement barrel from Krieger that will be installed down the road. Did some research and...
Jmkjr87, Not certain if your reply was directed to me but if it is, the specifics are this. The remanufactured ammo was commercial made by a well known company. There quality control had some issues in that every once or twice in several boxes a bad round would show up. I measured the rounds...
If you can access the bolt carrier from the bottom (by removing the lower receiver) use a short wood or brass dowel, about 3/8" in diameter and about 3 or 4 inches long and place on end located against an appropriate beefier part of BCG and drive it back with a small hammer. I have had out of...

It is an old school battle rifle, but a fun gun to shoot. https://www.classicfirearms.com/m14-rifle-new-semi-auto-walnut-stock-bula-parts-jra See the forum for more info: http://m14forum.com/m14/385161-new-jra-m14s.html
I was interested in a LaRue 'Covert' case but as the AT is now it would be awkward. The stock folding to the right should shave off a good deal of width. It would almost be like a new rifle.

At the risk of sounding like a broken record, methinks the problem with the hard bullet pulling was the result of the Hornady collet bullet puller being improperly set up, as posted above. If the cartridge is inserted to far up into the collet, the collet will grab the case neck and squeeze it...
Your Hornady bullet puller, it is their collet type puller? Make sure the collet is gripping the bullet only. If you get the mouth of the case into the collet you will in effect be giving the case a rolled crimp at the same time that you are trying to pull the bullet. You will end up just like...
I have a couple of FWB Model 65's. One with target grips and the other has sporter grips. These are 'old' technology recoiless spring piston 10 meter target pistols that ruled that area of the sport for many, many years. Granted, seals need replacing every couple of decades. And clean samples of...
In my AI AT with a 6.5 Creedmoor barrel, 42.3 grains 4451 under Berger 140 VLD Match, once in a while after firing a round, will work the action to reload a round from the magazine and the round will almost, but not quite chamber. It appears to be from an unburned kernel of powder getting wedged...
For years I have been using what I consider one of the finest calipers around, a Starrett 123-6 Master Vernier Caliper. Been thinking about getting a Mitutoyo Digital, Solar Powered Caliper. I don't believe that they would be any more accurate, but easier to use with the different comparators...
