Strelok now banned/sanctioned in the US.

Any movement on this? I am still running it, but would eventually like to upgrade my phone. More importantly, I actually did use the reticle feature quite a bit, mostly for figuring out what zero distance I wanted to use for various rifle and optic combos. Would be nice to see newer reticles...

    Rifle Scopes Athlon Scopes

Any updates to shipping dates on the Ares? A guy on another forum claims to have one, waiting anxiously on a review.

    Rifle Scopes Athlon Scopes

While we wait for the Ares to ship..... Where does the Helos stack up in the glass category? Better than the Argos but worse than the Ares? Has anyone compared the Helos to other options in the same price range (Vortex, SWFA, etc)? I had my eye on a Helos and an Ares, then decided to wait on...

    Rifle Scopes Athlon Scopes

I know we are still waiting for the official shipments to begin, but has anyone been able to do a side-by-side on Ares vs PST Gen II yet?

    Rifle Scopes Athlon Scopes

I realize that the Ares BTR isn't out yet, officially, but many have received test models. Plus, on this page alone I am seeing some chatter re: Ares BTR 4.5-27 FFP and a Vortex Viper PST Gen II 5-25...... One of these will be my next scope. Has anyone had a chance to handle both? With my...

    Rifle Scopes Athlon Scopes

I am trying to keep up with the plethora of Athlon threads I am finding now, so forgive me if this information has been posted elsewhere. Why the new thread vs the old 43-page one? Just curious. I have an Argos BTR 6-24 that I really do enjoy, and am looking to get a Helos BTR 6-24 and an...

    Building a scope testing rig

Wanting to build a scope testing rig that I can use to test the tracking on the various scopes I own, and future purchases. Have seen some of the posts (some here) showing wooden clamp-down styles. Have also seen some pic rail tripod adapters. Two main questions: considering I would want the...

Very inconsistent Varget results, help with groups

Well, I have no idea where the "12" came from in my brain. Its a 1:9. I don't own any 1:12s. I must have been reading something in another window and somehow that's what my fingers typed. Its a stock Savage 26" 1:9, started life as a 12FV. It shoots factory 64gr Speers fairly well, may...

Very inconsistent Varget results, help with groups

No idea how much jump... I've tried many different methods to measure, and just can't seem to get it right. Either the bullet always gets stuck in the barrel, or my results are so inconsistent, that I gave up trying and figured I'd load to mag length and be happy. This is a 1:12 twist, so I'm...

    $30 Home Depot folding sawhorse

Got it yesterday so no, haven't used it yet. I'm going to initially hand a wooden sheet from it and shoot some OCW tests. May be a few weeks before I get out and ring the steel with it. I'll post back and report how it holds up.

    $5 Bolt knob

I did the same with my Savage MKII using "Steel Stik" -- worked exactly the same and the longest parts of the process were waiting for it to cure and then sanding to shape. Painted with Alumahyde black and its been top notch ever since. Don't even want to ask how long that digi camo pattern...

    $30 Home Depot folding sawhorse

Have seen them mentioned on several forums. Finally got one. If you've been on the fence about it, buy one. That and about $4 in bolts and chains, and its the best shooting money I've spent in a long time.

    Homemade press support

After trying to full length size some 308 with insufficient case lube, and hearing the wood on my bench crack, I decided that I wanted to reinforce the mounting for my presses. Not so I could continue to overwork the presses with not enough lube, but so that, in the future, any issues with...

Gunsmithing How long does Devcon take to cure?

Thanks to all. I used the little 2oz kit Midway/Amazon sells, and its now been 13 hours. The leftover is cured, but then again, the leftover was spread out thin on a flat surface as I mixed it. Thickest part of the material would be down in the recoil lug recess, and I figure I'll wait...

Gunsmithing How long does Devcon take to cure?

Been reading 24 hours since I started learning about bedding a couple years ago. Read something this week that says 24 hours to separate parts, 7 days to cure until the gun should be shot. This is the only time I've ever read this, but its enough to give me pause to come and ask here. Thanks.
