    Most fun round to shoot...?

Your moderate and my moderate might be something else. What kind of recoil would you like the round to be similar to? Also, will you be putting a break on it or a super heavy profile barrel? Both of these can turn even the gnarliest magnum into a stiff .22-250. So what kind of weight are you...

Has anyone not gained accuracy switching to a high end barrel?

This... The parts are only as good as the guy you get to put them together, but if all your groups as good as the ones in the pics with factory ammo I wouldn't touch a damn thing until your groups start to open up. A shooter is a shooter, and it looks like you are in a special group of people...

    Factory pointed bullets

Thanks for the replies everyone, I have been curious about this for a while. I didn't mean to ditch the thread, but I have had a busy few days.

    Factory pointed bullets

I have been reading quite a bit about Bryan Litz and the concept of "pointing" bullets. I guess I am just curious if anyone makes pointed bullets straight from the factory? If there aren't any currently doing it, why? If pointing really does provide some benefit, why wouldn't Berger, Sierra, JLK...

Rifle Scopes Another "which scope" thread. Leupold or Steiner

I doubt you will ever regret that decision. My Steiner has been nothing short of perfect for me.

    6.5 Grendel

H335 or imr 8208xbr are generally the propellants of choice. I haven't been able to get my hands on the 8208xbr, so I can't give you a first hand account, but the H335 is giving me right around 2420 @ 28.5g. I wasn't getting pressure when I went higher but my accuracy suffered.

Im looking for a 6.8mm bolt action, any ideas?

This... the .270 and 6.8spc both use .277 bullets...

If you could live any ware in the USA after Military retirement?

My vote is Montana, good sized universities in Mizzoula and Bozeman for work. Hunting is incredible and the country is beautiful as long as you stay in the western half of the state. Montana to me represents 90% of the upside of living in Alaska without 3 months of perpetual darkness and...

Im looking for a 6.8mm bolt action, any ideas?

Could you please be a little more specific in the cartridge you a looking at? Are you looking for a 6.8 SPC in a bolt gun, or are you looking for something like a winchester .270?

    Need to quit chewing

I quit about every 2 months for about 2 weeks or until my jaw hurts from grinding my teeth. If anyone knows a way around that I would appreciate the help.

Why not a 7 Rem Mag?

It isn't as popular because you need a long action to run it. Some will say the whole belted mag brass will only get a couple reloads, but I have literally thousands of pieces of brass that will disagree. The .300 mag is a fine cartridge, but ballistically speaking, .30's can't touch the 7's...

Brand new shooter.... Spend $500 on match ammo or $800 reloading equip and supplies??

Just my .02, I would go for the reloading equipment. It doesn't take too long to learn and it really helped me to appreciate shooting my guns more. Something about shooting your own hand rolls and getting desired results is extremely satisfying. As far as breaking even, (Reloading my 7mm mag)...

    Rifle Scopes Steiner 5-25x56

My only issue with the clicks is that they aren't as audible as some of the other brands. The clicks are solid and not spongy at all. I got mine from Scott at Liberty Optics and have nothing but good things to say about the scope and Scott.

Hunting & Fishing Snake boots, Wear em

I tend to leave them well enough alone as well, but only because the second I hear or see one I scream like a girl and run fast and far. My hatred for snakes runs so deep that after seeing the pics in this thread, I had to check (repeatedly, think obsessive compulsive disorder) under my desk to...

    Trackingpoint firearms are pretty dumb!!

Like most here, I think the idea is awesome, but doesn't come close to satisfying the reasons that I shoot/hunt. When it comes to hunting, I prefer to be able to smell what I am about to kill. When it comes to banging steel or punching paper, I prefer to (try to) read the wind and focus on my...

    7MM Remington Magnum

i agree with lost coyote 100%. 2271 is insanely slow. I am shooting 180's out of a 28" tube between 3k and 3050. According to JBM, at my altitude (5000ft ASL), the round doesn't go transonic until 2k yards with a 20.5 mil drop (70 ish MOA). I don't have any verified dope beyond 1200 yards, but...

Rifle Scopes Talk me out of it...or tell me to go for it...

The guy I trust most when it comes to optics is ILya Koshkin and he did a great review of some scopes in your price range $400: Born in Europe, Assembled in the US My recommendation is to wait another month or 2 and spend an extra 100 bucks on a SWFA 3-9x42. It has matching reticle/turrets, FFP...

Couldn't agree more, bought a Steiner from Scott a few months back and between the price and his service I couldn't be happier

    Help me!! Rem 700 ungouping.

Just something to take a look at, but make sure your rings are torqued to 15in/lbs. I have heard other cases where over torquing on a PST can cause irregular POI shifts.

Rifle Scopes Have $2.1k for glass. Down to two choices. Need advice.

Don't bring up the CA issue because you will get your head bitten off (speaking from experience). The bushy is a great scope and so is vortex, between the 2 I prefer the vortex. The nightforce F1 doesn't have the high magnification, but in that price range, it is the scope i would go with and...
