Personally, as a starter Id purchase a regular scale and powder measure. .308 usually requires a lot of case prep if using mil spec brass so it saves wear and tear on the wrists to buy a case prep center and the needed attachments. tumbling in dry media works fine and vibratory case cleaners...
I use the SB dies, and check headspacing with the Hornady set.. as far as actual chamber measurements on your rifle, sorry I don't know Are you having issues with your current reloads?
Which trigger did your POF come with? single stage I'm guessing while your RRA likely had their very good 2stage oe trigger.. just a thought POF usually uses the best components available during production.. and have shipped rifles with several different trigger configurations.. I own POF and...
I struggled with hand loads for my semi auto .308 for several months, most manuals for .308 loads are based on bolt rifles.. as stated already start at least 2gr below min and work up or down from there. I use the small base dies in my single stage. As far as acquiring brass with a known...
The original barrel in my RRA is a Wilson 16" hbar non chrome lined. My only bitch is the weight, accuracy is probably better than it should be.. 3600 rounds so far
Just adding my 2c, glad to help keep in mind the GAP uses gas impingement and as you already know POF uses their piston system POF also has uppers on sale... just a heads up, not trying to swing you one way or another A GAP .243 upper might get my attention for the right price:)
Federal 205M are my choice, but have been using CCI 400 1 slam fire out of 3000, yes the CCI #41 are thicker and designed for 5.56/.223 AR style rifles
The P308 lower should fit any DPMS "style" .308 upper However the rear takedown pin is a standard AR15 size, not sure what brands of uppers use the smaller rear pin. Use any standard AR15 LPK to complete your build on the lower (it will also come with the smaller rear takedown pin) as the...
Came really close to purchasing a LAR8 2 years ago, 1100 for a 20" A2 stock, flat top upper. sounded like a smoking deal till I checked into the mods I would want mags were an issue but the proprietary barrel nut and handguards put it beyond what I wanted to spend. Judging by the shipping eta's...
Awesome thread! I grew up across the street from a local PD SGT that had the only K9 partner in town at the time (early 80's) The GSD named "SIR" barked non stop when off duty. Yea he scared the shit out of me. FFD 30 years, my golden ret passed and my youngest son was begging for a GSD... yea...
Great price on the R3, the ATH looks really good to. It took us months to find an R3 with the car stock for my brother in law, it was worth the wait. I'll be ordering that barrel when the one in my EO2 wears out
Another vote for POF 1200 rounds, below 1moa avg. Im sure there are lemons from EVERY MFG MY P308 is the only semi auto .308 I've ever fired so I can't compare to other rifles. I've always been led to believe that the shooter was the key to accuracy..
