Very "CLEAR" Choices! Agreed! The BX-2 Cascades were my 1st quality binos...helped me take my first deer at twilight this past season. However, the Leupold 10X42 Mojave BX-3 binos are the best for the $$$ I've ever looked through (including some very nice European-German-Asian glass). They...
Well, I have to report a disappointment in the Viper HD's. Long story short, I could not get past My perceived "fish eye" or "tunnel vision" effect I'd experienced in their FOV. Overall 2-week observation and use was Sharpness, check...Clarity, check...Color, check...Ergonomics, check...Build...
BX-2 and BX-3's are Great Glass! My BX-2's came in a soft foam case...okay for scratches, but nothing substantial like the ones in your pic. The Cascade 10x42's sure are sharp and clear, with very natural color and solid build quality. They helped illuminate and take my 1st deer this past...
FT, Any $$$ investment in Any top tier product can be the "best there is", period. However, that does not make anything of lesser value, "Cheap". Certainly it is cheaper, meaning a lesser $$$ investment. If a cheaper product provides performance that say runs 90 to 99% of the -Top Tier-...
Thanks Scott...mine will be in hand on Wednesday...I'll run it through the optical paces (bright light-low light-no light, etc.) and report back here! Ted
Good suggestion, Bubb...That is what I did also! To the original OP, store viewing\comparisons are tough due to so much light. However, distant (in store) dark shaded spots will be brighter with higher quality optical binos, rendering sharper details and clearer resolution\colors. If you have...
As yourself, I'm new to Vortex optics. If all the glass, prisms and coatings are identical between the Viper HD and Vulture HD (looks very similar on their features listings), then You might expect the larger objectives on the Vulture to bring in more low light capability. As you said, they are...
Bloodsport06, I'm an "average joe" and Yes, the 10x24 HD Vipers I looked through made me give back the Diamonbacks immediately to the sales rep...didn't even consider them in the running for my next pair! The Viper HD's were clearly brighter, sharper, had a greater DOF with superior resolution...
Thanks everyone for your comments. All suggestions were considered. however I finally chose the Viper HD 10x42's and will have them in hand next week for review. In my shopping experience, I found their ergonomics excellent (size-feel-weight), they fit my face very well, were comfortable to hold...
DRV & SC, Thanks for the comments. My goal is get the best-I-can around my $400-$600 budget. I've glassed with the Swaro El's at the range and did comparison shopping at the B&M. They are probably the best ever made...Period! However, I am a practical kind of guy and typically look for the...
My first hunting binos were the Leupold Cascades BX-2's...worked okay glassing at deep dusk and helped me take my 1st deer this past season. Alas, I wanted to get a wider FOV and the original McKinley BX-4's came in at Midway recently for a really sweet deal. Picked them up...however, they...
+2 ! Jan 2nd...saw and took my 1st deer. It was 2 minutes before downtime, soft blue sky was turning black, could not see the food plot and background woods were totally black. When I brought the gun up, my Leupold VX-6 3-18 seemed to have illuminated her coat, as if she were glowing. I had...
My VX-6 3-18mmX50 parallax was also a little off (set to 175 to get 100 in focus)! Simple solution was to take a .050 allen wrench, loosen up any one of the three allen screws, set the dial to correlate with the range I was using (100yds.), tightened all 3 screws, then all parallax adjustments...
Yes...Non Ill VX-6 ! BJ, Yes! My Leupold 115005 VX-6 3-18X50mm has a non-illuminated Fine Duplex Reticle. No frills for hunting, just DOA (dead on accurate) traditional cross hairs! Ted
BlackFoot, Here is my VX-6 review. The 30mm tube is very solid, yielding 75MOA of accurate, repetitive turret adjustments...but the VX-6 3-18X50mm is only 20.4 oz...Very Nice...all at a Great Price! :D
Curious Also... Great question, Troy. During a hot, humid 90deg summer day, I got my LR dopes with my new gun\scope\reloads from 200yds out to 600yds. I had similar thoughts about the upcoming cold 5-10 deg winter hunting scenarios I'll be in. I pulled up JBM calculator and plugged in an...
