VihtaVuori N555 Now in stock, Lets get some data!

I just got 2 Kg of it (here in Switzerland) yesterday (don't ask about the price). VV is a very good alternative here in Europe, since Hodgdon/ADI powders are very hard to get (the EU have banned DNT which is in those powders and so nobody imports it). I intend to use either N555 or N560 for the...

    Remington 700 Purchase Advice

I agree (I have had - still have - a lot of Rem 700s). I don't buy them any more, because where I live, they really aren't worth it. Even 15 years ago, they were and still are extremely variable (see below). As a recommendation for general purpose, but accurate shooting, out of the box I'd buy...

    277 Sig Fury

I think the movement is towards less of faster powders with more peak pressure rather than more of slower powders with less peak pressure. So, in fact, the new pressure curve would well allow LESS uncorking pressure than the current big magnums with 30" pipes.

    Labradar doppler chronograph

I ordered a couple of books from the German source - probably end up costing the same as it would from the US with postage. Anyway, I've done it now. Thanks for the pointer, didn't see it on that website.

I would love to buy this book, but I cannot get the 3 book bundle shipped to me in Europe, and shipping from AB LLC costs more that the books, which I just have trouble taking on the chin...

Range Report Applied Ballistics Kestrel; Pro staff support thread

Yeah, I have to agree with the guys - trying to second guess things like this is what makes me think of the old line "Garbage in, garbage out" (all respect here, but just saying you'll beat yourself to death with this approach. You need to find out why your input data is wrong - don't try to...

Range Report Applied Ballistics Kestrel; Pro staff support thread

Hi - are you trying to add with a PC Profile Loader? The AB unit itself only has 10 custom drag curves included. The PC connection is needed to add any more. And it does show up as 1.000 or something. I see three custom drag functions for the Berger 140 gn in .264 in my PC version: VLD...

Sidearms & Scatterguns What is the Ultimate Combat Pistol? Make your case

Hmmm, Like others, I think the role of a pistol in combat is to not have a role in combat. For me, their primary function is to shoot the prisoners :D But, I'll play... I have a Mk 23 and I'd never select it - in fact, for ammo purposes, I'd only select a 9mm. My main beef is that you cannot...

Range Report Applied Ballistics Kestrel; Pro staff support thread

yeah - bug, see here You need to clear the temperature calculation and then you can add the proper V0. The profile loader includes a zero fps temp value and confuses the unit.

Range Report Applied Ballistics Kestrel; Pro staff support thread

Yep - that's it - 'capture' the DOF and point the unit at the target and it will show you the windage. Really - read that section in the manual - you do both straight after each other (I usually have multiple targets over a mountain, so I input and save the multiple targets).

Range Report Applied Ballistics Kestrel; Pro staff support thread

Hi, Well, the assumption is that the wind is constant across the whole path of bullet - which it almost never is, so it will never be perfect. And wind varies all the time, but given that... One trap for young players is that the kestrel "direction of wind" is relative to the current target...

Rifle Scopes Leupold CMR-W 5.56 reticle - ballistics reference variables ???

Hi, Yes, the info I have is that it's a 175 HPMK at 2575 fps, but I can only really get it to agree by using about 550 meters elevation as I showed above... Thanks for the Excel.

    Recommend me a good rangefinder!

Hi, You want something that can automatically account for elevation - you need it to have an inclinometer. The Bushnell equivalent is called "ARC" - the later model Leica ones also have a 'declination' feature. Not sure it will meet your range requirement. The Leica won't meet your budget...

    Worst company for reloaders!!

The original analogue phone system has its own power. Of course, 99.999% of businesses use a phone system that needs external power, so unless it's a POTS (plain old analogue line) then power outage will screw with their phone system. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk HD
