Had an attempt made to remove a factory barrel with my Surgeon action wrench. The damn thing bent under load, so while I still think and lug style wrench won't damage the action, it definately won't hold up to the removal of all factory barrels. Unfortunately this was a lesson learned...

Well, i also just realized that I don't ahve a torque wrench that goes down to 20 in/lbs, lowest I have is 25 in/lbs. So, how critical is it that I use a torque wrench for the base. I obviously don't want to overtorque, but I don't want to undertorque it either, and what about the rings...

I just got it from Brownells for under $30. It is a T-handle unit with a clutch that slips at 25 inlbs. It only fits Torx T15 screws. I was putting a scope on a LTR and gave it a try. If this is what 25 inlbs feels like-I have been over doing it for years.

what action wrench are you guys using for your M2008? Marty told me to get one from Tac Pro. I called them and they want nearly $1000.00 for the kit that comes with the vise wrench and torque wrench. I don't need the vise and torque wrench.
