❓ How Can I Determine the FoV at Magnifications other than Min. and Max. Given in the Specs?

How can you determine what the FoV of a scope is — at magnifications other than the minimum and maximum values given in the manufacturer's specs?


Besides the obvious, of course :
"Buy the scope, set out a tape measure, record, caluclate — done."


➧ But, before I bite the bullet and type my CC number in the field.... — I'd like to know what FoV I can expect at different magnifications.

Because to me FoV is a big deal. To March it was so much that they developed their Wide Angle scopes.


Just to see what FoV are typical — I did a little survey of manufacturer published FoV (min. and max. magnification). The table below shows the data I found.

FOV at Max Mag * Max magnification / Magnification X = FOV at Magnification X

Something to keep in mind:
-Min magnification is usually non-linear due to low power tunneling.
-Magnification ring engravings at intermediate settings are often slightly off.
