SLC...ish
Barnes recently released a 6.5 mm bullet with a G7 BC of .350 and a G1 BC of .703. They sure look pretty. Load development to come. Picture next to a 140 eld for reference.

$32/100 pack, $152/500 bulk pack is MSRP. I actually picked these up from a prize table. So new I didnt even see them on the web sight yet.

What cartridge are you loading these for?

Any rumours on release date? I didn't see them on any websites after a cursory search....

I am going to try them in 2 different 6.5 creedmoor barrels. One is a 27 inch Bartlien the other is a 24 inch Proof Carbon. I have been told these are shipping to retailers now and should be for sale shortly. My advice would be to call Barnes Bullets directly.

A little update on this new bullet. This baby is long. I mean I guess that is to expected but OAL to touch the lands in 2.95". I will be jumping them .050" to keep them magazine friendly. This rifle has a little longer than average chamber and to touch the lands with a 140 ELD i am at 2.86". I decided to do initial load development with imr4831. I have lots of it and it is slower burning than H4350. I hope that means less pressure overall. If I get 2800 fps from my 27 inch barrel without pressure I will be happy. I will update this thread with my results.

That should be doable in a 27" barrel, the 150smk with a moderate charge of H4350 in new Lapua brass at .015" jump averaged 2680fps from my 23" Bartlien barrel.
Would like to see some of your test results on these.

I was able to get some load testing done today. I loaded 17 rounds up. I am using IMR4831. Starting at 42 and ended a ways above max at 46.5 grains. I am doing 2 things. Checking where the pressure ceiling is in my rifle and looking for flat spots in velocity. My results are as follows.

42.0 2710 fps
42.3. 2747
42.6. 2763
42.9. 2788
43.2. 2807
43.5. 2831
43.8. 2860
44.1. 2887
44.4. 2898
44.7. 2902
45.0 2928
45.3. 2935
45.6. 2972
45.9. 2955
46.2. 2981
46.5. 3011

I have a 15 fps spread from 44.1-44.7 and I think I will look into this a bit more. This barrel is a bit faster than others I have had but I did not expect this much speed.

Book max is 44.3 gr according to the hodgon load manual. I did not see pressure till 45.9gr and have no intention of loading that high.

They are not on the website yet. Barnes employees tell me this is schedule for a 2020 release. I won these at a local finale for my shooting league. Barnes had a very large presence there.

Man that’s screaming fast. Wow! These peaked my interest for sure!

I won these bullets off a prize table after my local club series finale. Sources tell me they should be available early next year.

I guess the 145 will be loaded in 6.5prc, but hasn't hit the shelves yet. I'm pretty excited to try this out.

I gave them a call this morning after I saw that, they ran into some issues getting it to Sammi spec, but said they should be on the shelves in about 2 months

Just ordered a few hundred straight from Barnes. Hopefully I have them before the weekend to see how they do in my creedmoor. I would like to see 2800fps with RL16 and a 24” barrel.

That shouldn't be too hard, with rl16 and norma brass I got a great node at 43.3 grn and a great group sd of 5.4 moving at 2834 with the 144 gr bergers. mine was out of a 26 inch barrel. If i was you I would try some loads between 43.0-44 grn.
Due note these we loaded long, probably around a coal of 2.900 or somewhere around there.

Just got my bulk box of 500 in. My barreled action should also be in today. Will be loading these for 6.5 PRC. It'll be a week or so before I can test any loads.

Any luck testing yet?

Optics planet has free shipping on them.

I cant find it listed, can anyone confirm the bc on these are still .700+?
How did they get that sort of bc with a 1.341 in bullet where the 153 is 1.500 tall.
