I've been shooting 175 smk's in my stock Savage. I would like to try the 155gr Scenars but thought I read that my barrel might be to fast to shoot them well. Is there any truth to this? Has anyone been running them through a 308 Savage?

Remember, when you talk about twist, its not just the weight of the bullet that plays a factor, its the length also. And the 155 Scenar is longer than the 175 SMK.
In other words, try it, it should be fine.

They work great in mine. 26" barrel, 12BVSS. 46.2g of Reloader 15, BR2 primer. Check out the loads in the Reloading Depot. Everyone seems to be getting good accuracy right around 2950 fps. I say try it. At the very least, if they don't work, you can sell the left over projectiles here.

I've been running them in Savage Model 12vlp with good results.....
Re-15, 47.0 grs, Win. brass, Fed 210m, O.A.L. 2.195(ogive), 0.005" jump
10-shot string: Avg. Velocity - 2992 ft/sec, ES - 20, SD - 7
Consistent 1/2 m.o.a. to 300yds (haven't tested beyond 300 yet)

i just got mine in from grafs today. The only thing I didn't like about them was the 7 days it took it to get to me. Everyone else gets supplies to me in about 2 or 3 days.

As far as velocity goes, I get more with Varget and 150/155s but RL-15 got me more with 175s.

That is going pretty fast. I loaded some Varget up the other day at 46.2grs. I haven't chrono the load yet but it wads them up at 600. My come ups was 11.5 at 600 with a 24" inch barrel. The other 308 with a 20" barrel was 13.25 on come ups.
I didnt know if I should try some Rl 15. Maybe get more speed with it or not.

only issue I can think of you could have overstablizing a bullit would be the hi RPMS may make it sling itself apart.
308 would not have these problem as it cant get it fast enough to build the RPMS,I shoot 155's in a 10 twist works well jumping them as well..
