I just picked up a SA Champion 1911 (used) and havent had a chance to take it to the range yet. So in the interest of seeing how everything works(short of shooting it) I loaded a dummy round in a mag, dropped the slide and then dropped the mag out of the gun.
No issues there, now comes the ejection of the dummy round, the round is pulled out just enough to drop out through the mag well. Not the typical ejection for a 1911 of around the 4-5 o'clock position.
I inspected the extractor claw for damage, and even compared it to the one on my full-size SA appeared and they appeared to be identical in physical condition.
So I guess my question is oh gurus of the 1911, is this a case of the extractor needing to be tuned or replaced? And in either case is this something that I can do or should I have a smith do it?
Thanks in advance for suggestions or ideas.
