200 yards with rimfire

Shooting 22lr at steel plates at 300 yards is a blast

The round is moving so slow that you can literally watch/see the round being lobbed at the target and the impact with naked eye

Switching winds throws a big wrench in 22 shooting at 200. Shoot that CCI and some center x or eley match at 200 in calm conditions and I bet the groups are way better with CX or eley.

Eley Tenex shoots better than CCI SV 100%. But $50 a brick is way easier to buy than $180.
Better ammo won't help me in gusting switching wind conditions where the best guy at the match has hits with his first 5 rounds and then the bext 5 just disappear.
With the targets getting smaller at the last few matches, more consistent and tighter shooting ammo will probably help. But is it worth an extra $30 a match? Am I going to buy 1 extra hit, or 5 extra hits? How many spots do I move up, maybe 5 or 6, maybe none?
I did shoot Tenex at the 400 yard match and got 8 hits out of 10 at 400. I don't know that CCI SV would have hit more than 3.
Maybe the targets are getting smaler and futher and it's time to step up and buy a couple bricks of Tenex and really see what I can do.... But what if it helps and then I have to buy fancy ammo all the time.... Cheaper and better than a lot of habbits other people have though.

I know the thing these days is to go beyond 200 yards with consistency and that little .22lr pill. That's a good thing!!! As for myself, I'll stick with what has worked for me at 200 yards on a 5 inch gong - rather than changing ammo / or I'll just move up to a 6 or 7 inch gong at 200 yards and continue the fun... I'm awful close to passing that midway point in my 60's - so it doesn't take much to entertain me on the Range anymore. LOL!!!
