I have a 1:8 prefit coming in a couple weeks and need to get some bullets ordered. Anybody have any suggestions on starting loads in the 75- 80.5 gr. Bullet range? I will probably be using 4350 as I have plenty of it, but ive got some rl25 and 26 as well.

I just loaded some testers with the 80.5 with 40 grains of H4350 and did 5 groups of five rounds. The first group is just touching the lands and then backed it off by .010 for each of the next 4 groups. The charge is low and i expect to end up in the 42-43gr range but its new brass and a new barrel so trying to find a charge weight and FPS wouldn't help right now. I figured if i can find the right COAL while breaking in the barrel it would be a plus.

Did you see any difference when touching the lands vs. off of them? Ive shot lots of vld's and they like to be touching the lands for the most part in my experience, but have never shot the hybrid ogive, which is what those 80.5's have I believe.

My stock should be in next week then i'll give them a go and i can let you know. I also loaded some 95 smks with H4831sc and H1000. For those i started at the Coal copper creek uses and moved all the way up to .010 off the lands

Okay thanks. The bbl I have coming is an 8 twist, so the 95's are out of the question. I wanted to stay in the 75- 80 range since I will only use that rifle for coyote hunting and casual steel shooting inside of 1,000. I'm hoping it will be a laser out to about 400 if I zero at 200 for hunting purposes when I may not have time to get a positive range.

I don't have my 22 CM yet, but I do have a 6CM and tried rl 26 with the 115's. I didn't have enough room in my case to get what I wanted out of it as far as accuracy and low sd/es. I use alpha brass which has a little less capacity than hornady, so if you use hornady brass it may work a little better. Velocity was pretty good with rl 26 at around 3100, but I'm getting 3000 with 4350 with low es and way more consistent groups. I have not grouped past 1,000 with that rifle yet though.

The RLs you listed are probably too slow though.

I'm running a 22LRV (6XC parent case) at 38gr H4350. 95hr SMK at 3160. .005 off lands

Running lighter bullets you're probably looking at the varget range. Though usage dependent I'd look at the 88/90/95s with the 22creed

Pretty good velocity out of a 21in barrel. Mine will be 22in, so hopefully I'll get similar results. You running suppressed or not? Just asking because my 6creed runs about 30fps faster suppressed vs not.

Not suppressed.

3,500 should be pretty easy quite honestly.

I started crunching powder up around 46 grains so backed off to the flat spot in velocity just for ease in developement, but saw nothing in terms of pressure that would have scared me off.

Coyotes hate it.....
Did you ever try 4350 or rl16 or did you use 26 from the start? I've got tons of 4350 and use it in a few different rifles, so I was hoping to make it work in this one as well.

This is a great thread! I've got a 22-250 AI that I'll be working with soon, as well as my dad's 22 Creed he just had built. Looks like H4350 should serve us well with the 80 gr ELDM.

I got good results with 42gr H4350. Then the barrel got faster so had to back it off to 41gr. Groups opened up with 42gr. This is with 80.5 full bores. Great bullets. Getting about 1/4 to 1/2 inch at 100. Barrel is 24" 1:7.5" Mullerworks suppressed.

here is all my data so far. Please work your own loads every rifle is different. These are the loads I have shot from my rifle.
