22 Creedmoor vs 224 Valkarie

I didn't see a thread on this comparison.

I've found myself really enjoying the 22cal Rifles lately. I have 223 Rem & 223AI but I'm still looking to build up another.

It seems 224 Valkarie is the new thing right now but I'm still leaning towards the 22CM. I know the barrel life on the 22 CM isn't great, 1300 rounds is what I've been reading but it does get those 90gr projos moving pretty darn fast.

I intend to use it to punch paper primarily with some hinting critters here and there. No plans to shoot any comps with it just because I hear quick strings of fire are not advised.

So for those who have been down this road what way did you go and what was the determining factor for you?
22 Creed for the win...hands down.
22GT is a great choice as well

Did the OP have a 223 AI? If so, I missed that and stand corrected. I was legit thinking of 223 REM. I retract my statement if it was a 223 AI.

After going down the 223AI road with a 7 twist I sold it because the 88' and 90's started coming apart after 400 or so rounds. Loads were not hot either and I took care of the barrel. The 75gr ELDM worked fine but I didn't build the gun to shoot the low-ish BC bullets and because I shoot farther than 600Y often.

Built a 6mmBR which is so nice with 108's! Seeing where you miss in the dirt helps when self spotting with these slightly heavier bullets. I'd probably go 6BRA for the extra velocity and might do that when this barrel goes south. Still shooting well at a little over 2000 rounds down the tube.

I have a 7 twist 22-250ai I run in prs matches sometimes. 3170fps. Haven’t blown up a bullet yet 🤷🏻‍♂️ was yours a 218 or 219 bore?

I was blowing up 75 and 80 A maxes with my 1 in 7 22-250. By 700 rounds it blowing up around 1 in 4. I did not trust it nice. Which is a nice way of saying abused it. It was a BHW polyaganl.

A year or so before the 223AI I built a 20x47L with a 9 twist barrel to shoot the Berger 55 grainers. These went 3830 fps. It was under 300 rounds when those started blowing up. I worked up a load for 40gr vmax which also worked fine.

I was a slow learner....

I have 22cm, 22gt, no valk. But 22 grendel. My 22gt runs 90 atips up to 3270fps but run 3100 with superb accuracy. The 22 creed is an 8tw and I shoot 77tmk at 3450 fps. The grendel is 75eldms at 3000 from an ar15 format using 8208xbr. They all have their applications, creed is a hunting bolt action, gt a prs rifle, grendel is a thermal night time setup. I also have another 18" 7tw 22cm that's a thermal rig too, 77s at 3250 in that.

Valkyrie bolt here with 1/7 26” shooting 88s at 2880. No issues yet 1200 rounds on the barrel.

I just built a .224 Valkyrie today. 833639C5-5528-4D7D-9298-2327C2BB9DE2.jpeg17EF50C1-46AF-4D33-8894-EBF5AC485B0C.jpeg

Took the Impact .224 out this weekend and for sure need to load a few hotter rds than stock Hornady 88gr Match.

Shot ok, but seems very slow at 2571 and the SD could be much better. Going to see if I can boost these up to just past 2850 or so.

1:7 barrel with 88gr ELD-M's.

Wow, that’s slow. I’m getting about 2750 in a 22” AR with factory 88gr match.
