I'm wanting to use my suppressor on both my .22lr 1911 and Savage .22lr fvsr as well as on my SIG 556 so I'm not wanting a huge suppressor hanging off the end of my hand gun. So that being said what hand gun loads will be comparable to the .223/5.56 so so I won't have to worry about my suppressor being damaged?

I load my 475 Linebaugh to probably 60,000psi

in short your not gonna fine a can made to handel 223 pressures thats small like a 22 lr can , simply because its not going to do its job on the 223 due to reduced volume so what would be the point of paying for it and it not working.
their are several smaller 223 cans , SRT Hurricane is about 5" , AAC Ranger II is sub 6" but both are 1.5" in diameter.
Quick Silver makes a 1.25" round can for 223 but its expensive and doesent work that well (so why get it)

best bet is to get two suppressors

check liberty i seem to remember them having an all around can that could handle a lot

If clearances were not an issue and it was purely a stopgap/functional issue, it could be done.

You can get a pretty short suppressor for your 5.56 but it is really apples and oranges. Delta P Design makes one that is less than 4" in length and would physically fit, but it still would not be something I would recommend.

A good 22LR suppressor will be substantially lighter and more important, will be small enough in diameter that you can likely use your sights. In addition, most 22LR suppressors are inexpensive enough that it is worth considering a dedicated 22LR suppressor. Another consideration, depending on the 22LR conversion used, is if the 5.56 suppressor will clear the guide rod on your particular pistol.

When getting into suppressors it is common to want to use a one size fits all approach. Thinking of a suppressor in the same terms as an optic makes sense. You could use a 4X optic on a rail mount for all of your firearms using optics. In practice it is really not a good fit for all uses and it would rapidly be apparent that there were better options based on the application.

HTH. Best of luck with your project.

problem is most if not all handgun cans have aluminum shells and or baffles. But an all steel handgun can wouldn't cycle on almost all handguns.

it's not just the PSI generated. It's the heat that rifle rds produce your talking 4-6gr of powder with 9mm vs 20-27gr of powder on 5.56. Even 10mm your still less than half of of 5.56 powder.

I'm not worried about the sight issue on my .22. It has a bull barrel w/o sights and it will be wearing the same Nikon 6-18x40 my SIG 556 has and my 1911 piston the guide rod will clear no problems. My main concern is I don't want to buy a tax stamp for 1 then a for the other and if I can just use the same can on all my weapons I would like to.

This is what I was afraid of and I was trying to find the powder load amount online but all I kept finding was "buy a book to learn to load" I'm definently not going to do something unsafe I just wanted to get the best deal I could for my money.
