Gunsmithing 243ai problems

not sure if its loads or rifle.shooting handloads only.it will group one hole 3 shot strings at 25,50,75yrds but at 100 it is very eratic and about 2inch groups.ok details-savage 110 long action.lija 1-10twist heavy fluted barrel,crown is perfect,barrel spotless inside,loads are as follows.fully prepped win brass,cci200 primer,45grns ramshot hunter per yohan there ballistician,95grn nosler ballistic tip seated at lands.thanks for your help!

I have had great luck with H4831SC. I usually do load development at 200 yds or further. You may need to run a pressure test then play with the seating depth.

Since you have the 1/10 twist, try an 87 vmax with IMR4350. I've had good luck with it in the past.

The 1/10 may be having slight trouble keeping the 95 grain bullets stabilized. It is probably unlikely though. Have you had any key holing? Also try Varget or 4831SC like CnC1018 suggested.

Never had good luck/w 95 grainers in my 243ai It shoots the hell out of 75grs anything I use varget getting 3770fps. I also have the 1/10 twist

ok well im of to a good start here.i will try some lighter bullets and differant powder.i just like the ramshot products so well those people are so nice when you call them.guess ill try some r17 and some 70grn matchkings i got or some vmax n 4350 although ramshot hunter is in the same burnrange. i really want a decent hunting load for the gun so not sure on the vmaxes but the would be fun in our dogtowns here in wy.

My 10 twist will not shoot 95's worth a crap either. 90g Sciroccos shoot 3250 with 44.5g H414 and group 3.5" @ 400 out of a 24" hart. 45g R19 push 85g sierras a little over 3300 and group under 3" @ 400. I've pushed them faster, but they seem to loose repeatable accuracy. Guess my barrel likes slow bullets 75 to 90 grain.

Some thoughts...
I have shot a thousand on the 95BT in a 10 twist barrel, all of them where closer to 2980-3000 fps range. They have shot very well out to 600 yards for me.
It sounds like something other than the bullet powder combo. I have a hard time with the groups going from 1 hole at 75 yards to 2+ inches at 100.
Try shooting the load at 200 or 300 yards, or try a group at 100 with the scope power turned all the way down. You might be trying too hard now at 100 and when you see the second shot go off, you start to press.
It may also be that your barrel just doesn't like the bullet.

Otherwise, give the 87 v-max a go. They shoot great out of a 10 twist.
