OK
I started this project with the hopes of hitting 3100 fps with the 150 ABLR. I chose IMR 4350 because it's on the faster side of H4350 and R17. It's an awesome powder for the 284 platform because it handles all bullets from 120-180gr. I started off with 53.5 gr and went up to 56 gr. with a case overall length of 2.956" which is accurate mag length.

53.5 = 3050
54.0 = 3100
55.0 = 3200
55.5 = 3225
56.0 = 3257 Hot! Stiff bolt handle and not much velocity gain to justify pressure.

I was tickled as a pig in shit when I first read the chrono. My suspicion got the better of me so I checked the chrono in between 5 shot firings against my GAP 308. The velocities I've proven stayed true with the .308. I'm considering trading a friend for his stock savage dbm setup so I can get 3.00" instead of being limited to 2.956".

I was wondering why no one has bothered with IMR 4350 in their 284. I believe it's a very good powder for most combinations. I'm running a blueprinted savage short action with accurate mag bottom metal and dbm, krieger 9 twist @ 28" with brake, manners t3 stock, nightforce 20 moa base, warne rings, and bushnell 6500 6-24x50 ffp g2dmr.

If the bc holds up on these bullets I believe I'll have stumbled onto something very special, and apparently something that hasn't been toyed with much. What's y'alls thoughts?

Here's a couple pics of the chrono reading after 55gr and the rifle. The 54gr charge was the most accurate at 1/4" at 100 and the worst was a tie between the 55.5 and 56 at 3/4". It's still a new barrel so I hope the accuracy will stay with the 54.5 ish loads. If I can stay at 3150 or 3100 ish I'll be happy.

Thats sweet, I've been waiting for someone to post this load, I am about to work up this same thing in my .284, except I have a lot of H4350 so thats what ill be using. I'm really surprised a lot more people haven't been trying this bullet in the .284 win.

I built this rifle completely on speculation that the 150 would perform. LawnRanger: I'll try the 162 as soon as I get a chance. I gotta burn through these 150 ablrs first. I'm gonna run em to 1000 yards this weekend so we'll see if that bc is inflated or not.

Did you shoot these yet? I'm curious about the Accubond LR if it has the bc it claims. Did the group well? I have a 1-9 twist but its only 22" barrel.

They're about a .53 bc. They're quarter inch at 100 & 1/2 @ 200. They took 7.5 mils up from a 100 yard zero though when it should've taken only 6.7.
