I am looking for opinions on the 240gr pp sn bullet from woodleigh loaded hot in a 30-06 say 56gr of rl-22 to take Alaskan brown bear or African cape buffalo. this load would yield 3600ftlb of muzzle energy. I have heared of someone who loaded a 240gr smk like this but never a woodleigh. any thoughts rifle is a 26in 10twist barrel.

Personally, I wouldn't go that route for game that big. For the big stuff that can, & will hunt you back I suggest a bigger gun. I would be confident in my 338WM with my 250gr AB @ 2800fps (over 4300ft/#) for the bear at reasonable ranges, but the black death I would want a 375 ruger, or bigger. Could the '06 do it? Sure. But could it stop a charge with only 1, or 2 shots at best????
