300 PRC update

New lot is in fact 3.662. So roughly 23 thou shorter. I'll be making sure to keep them separate when shooting to see if I see any difference.

I'll pull another bullet and weight the powder also and see if it's any different.
Thanks for confirming!
Just curious, did you have a chance to get any data on the charge weight, bullet O.A.L. ect...?

Anyone had a chance to shoot factory ammo in a SAAMI chamber yet? How is accuracy?

New lot of 225 ELD-M has 74.8 grains of what looks like H1000.
Bullet O.A.L. is 1.68".

If that powder weight is accurate then it's .4 gr less then the initial batch from Midway. I haven't had a chance to pull a bullet and measure powder. The 225 eld pill itself isn't going to change.

Had Travis at TS Customs build one for me and Josh at Copper Creek supplied the 225 ELDM ammo. It's a one holer at 100 yards and great to shoot!

Probably because they shortened the coal

*Correction* The new lot of 225 ELD-M does not use H1000.
H1000 on left.

What are your build specs? Thinking of having him put one together for me as well... I can't decide if I want to build a pig for prone only, or a tweener light enough I could hunt with as well.

Guys, dumb question. I currently have an AXMC chambered in 300 win mag. I've just got wind of the 300 PRC and if I understand correctly from my reading that all I would need to do to shoot 300 PRC would be to get a barrel chambered in 300 PRC? In other words, the bolt in my 300 win mag AXMC will work with the 300 PRC?

Yes, that’s correct.

Correct. Same mags. Same bolt. Throw in a 300prc barrel and rock and roll. Contact @DAVETOOLEY as he can get you one in 300prc spun up for the AXMC.

Have to get them from my files at home.

Found them: Lone Peak Fusion XL action, Benchmark 28" MTU 9.5 twist barrel, Huber 2 stage trigger, Spuhr mount and Kahles K525 scope.

Is any body using the hornady match micro adjustment dies for 300prc.?
My question is..do they not have a spring in them like Redding dies? And how is the quality they are producing...runout etc.?
This is my first set of them because only thing on the fast market...haven't ran anything thru them..but they dont quite have that match grade feeling

Maybe I’m biased, but I own both in several cartridges, and the Hornady is night and day better.

Edit: the clarity of the markings on the Hornady seater are very hard to read compared to the Redding, whichnis literally my only gripe.

Just got a reply from ADG and they are looking in to 300 PRC brass, but nothing definitive. Reviews are good so far for their 6.5 PRC and SAUM brass.

Just picked up some more 6.5 PRC and 6.5 Creedmoor (Hoping this will be the same or better than the Norma-"shooter's pack")

I'm hoping enough members here can ask them and maybe they'll consider it.

I talked to them a few months ago about it. I have been using their 300 win mag brass for a long while now. Best bang for the buck I've found. Some of it has 13 firings on it and still has good tight primer pockets, even with a stout load. If they come out with 300prc I will be an early adopter.

I prefer ADG over Norma all day long. Peterson and Lapua are the only others that are more consistent but the ADG is no slouch at half the price.

I'm sure there are inconsistencies in ever ammo lot for every caliber. I've seen 6.5 cm eld match .3 gr off in the same box. So I don't want to get too caught up in the lots and what's what. This is why you always buy a large amount when you can in the same lot. That's been a given forever if you want consistency.

I'll be interested too see what folks get for velocity in different barrel lengths with this ammo. I am close to 2900 with a 26 inch tube and the factory 225s.

Wow, that’s fast. Good stuff. Patiently waiting for my reamer and DTA blank.

Was with a suppressor and I'm at 6k feet here. Magnetospeed v3. 2890fps was last 3 average. Out of a proof CF barrel DT chambered for me. Getting into the 300nm territory there. I'm happy.

What is the H2O case capacity of the 300 PRC?
Thanks

New brass is ~96 grains. Fired will be 97-98. For reference 30 Nosler Nosler brass is ~97 new and ~99 fired. Nosler 300 win is ~93 new and ~95 fired. ADG 30 Nosler is very roomy at ~100 new. All weights are H20.

Has anyone ran the Hornady Precision Hunter 212eld-x through a chrono? If so, what was your avg mv, and what barrel length/ twist rate are you running? TIA

After one of those royally crappy work days yesterday, all was made better when Marc at Spartan Precision emailed me to tell me my rifle was ready to go. I picked it up, did a measurement for seating depth, and loaded up my first ever 50 rounds of 300 PRC (attached). I'm heading to the range tomorrow to break in the barrel and take a few pics. I'll post rifle stats and results tomorrow afternoon.

Looking forward to the results.

Since the 300 PRC is not on Quickloads yet, which cartridge are you guys using in it's place for load calc's?
Will there been any updates on QL to include the 300 PRC?
Thanks

You could just use hornady’s published data. It’s a page or two back.

Just got back from my first day at the range with my newly rechambered 300 PRC. With 78.5 gr of H1000, 28" barrel, 225 gr ELD-X, I averaged 2935 ft/sec. Groups were sub-MOA, but not great - though with no load development, and minimal brass prep on first-fire Hornady brass, I'm not unhappy with the results.
