I’ve got a 300prc build going and have purchased the ultra 9 for it. I didnt do a ton of research before buying but was led to believe the ultra 9 was the titty sprinkles. Did I make the right purchase for this gun? I won’t know For sure for a long time cause that’s how long it will take to actually get it.

Well quite frankly if you want MAX suppression and size does not matter then get the Ultra 338. If you want near max suppression and you would like to potentially hunt with it (or just have a smaller/lighter can) then get the Ultra 9. Realistically they are so close to the same you are going to love either one.

If size isn’t an issue the 338 would be my pic. It wasn’t an option when I bought my 9. A bit more effective and option to run on a 338 LM etc.

Does give up a bit in the size and $$ category to the ultra 9.

That said I run the Ultra 9 on my 300 WM and never fired it and felt I needed more suppression. Very happy with the 9. I did sell my 338 LM because I no longer used it after suppressing the 300. Had I bought the Ultra 338 I probably would still own the Lapua

I have the ultra 9 and I love it on short-action calibers. For magnums, I think you'd be better off with the 338, but I've never had my ultra on a magnum.

A lot of your comfort is going to depend on your environment. For example, my 16" 308win is a little uncomfortable inside confined spaces/under a vehicle even with the 9 on the end of it. In an open field it's much more pleasant. Longer barrels are even better.

Edit to add: There's TBAC's shooter's ear test video where they show the Ultra 9 to be fine on the 300wm.

I'm sure it'll be fine. There's always a bigger/better option, but at the end of the day you still have a great can that should get the job done.
