308 to a ??

still fairly new, and have a new question. found a good deal on a 308 set up exactly like i want for a good price. the problem is i dont want another 308. what are my caliber options to change it to with minimal work. what ive been looking for is a 7wsm

Depends on the rifle. You neglected to mention the make/model.

7 08 or 260 would only be a barrel

any short mags would also be bolt face and magazine/follower

7/08. All you need is a barrel. You can even neck down your .308 brass to .284.

All that and you can make a 6.5 Creedmore, .243Win and a few other flat shooting calibers.

I'd say .260, I went from .308 to .260 for my main precision bolt gun recentaly with no regrets

6.5cm is what mine is going too. Really anything around .260 would be my first choice

I converted my Milspec 5R into a .260 Improved. I'm really hooked on those 139-142 gr. bullets. Really do well for long range...and easier to dope the wind. Guess I'd vote for any 6.5mm round that will fit in your action.

a .260 is a good choice. I think I am going to sell one of my .308's though and build a .338 lapua next.

260 or 6.5CM, the CM has an advantage that match ammo can be bought already loaded.

Southwest ammo has match grade 260 loaded. Also available with lapua brass if you call and order it. Federal is also coming out with Gold metal match this year also.
