I have a surgeon with a nice 30mm mount and have been shooting it with a loaner from another rifle-nxs hsxs 3.5-15x 50obj

Options:
5.5-22 Moar T 5.5-22x 56 obj
Kahles K624 TT 6-24x56 6 (has .125adjustment-dunno until I paw one)
Zeiss Xmas tree reticle (don't know if I would like that)
Leupold Tactical Mark 4 6.5-20x50 - LR/T - M1

all things point to keep what I have 15x or step up to the 22x with them. With the Kahles a close third…

Thoughts

What kind of shooting, what caliber and how much travel do you need to satisfy the shooting you're wanting to do? I assume you're an MOA kind of guy too, correct?

Yes, MOA kind of guy.
Caliber is 308, might get a switch barrel at some point, but don't really want to spend the $ on another caliber/dies.
Paper, Hunting, maybe a match or two if I ever have a free weekend before I am 90-I generally have time to shoot 2x a week, just not on the weekend. I generally shoot out to 5/6 and have access to push it if I find time.

From what I know, Nightforce has the travel department, with Leupold next. I have no issues buying another NXS, but is there anything I should consider in the interim, even if not listed?

When it comes to MOA, travel and 30mm tubes, Nightforce is one of the best in the market, especially with some of the discounts that have been running around lately. Eurooptic has some good buys on those: Nightforce NXS Riflescopes on sale - Discounted Prices

The upcoming Vortex HD offerings look very enticing for the money as well, but those are slated for a summer release at best and pushing into 34mm. You can get the deal Mile High has with the 5-20x including a Spuhr mount for the 35mm tube: Vortex Optics: Razer HD: 5-20x50mm - MOA Turrets - w/ SPUHR MOUNT! - Mile High Shooting Accessories

There's always a 6-24x PST option as well to stick with 30mm, but it seems as if you're looking for higher quality than that. I'm not sure on Leupold's availability with the new MOA reticle, but it's worth calling around to see on that one with the Hide vendors.

I'll be honest, I don't restrict myself to one type of rings for the majority of my shooting. They resell pretty dang easily!

Another option to consider would be the Sightron SIII 6-24x50 LRMOA. Less weight than the Nightforce for packing around hunting, 100 MOA of travel, turrets track great, people love how clear the glass is at the upper mags, ... If you don't need the bomb-proof characteristics of the NF, the Sightron offers a helluva lot for a lot less $$$ This scope is probably my next purchase for very similar varied application.
