Anyone have a suggestion for Unique and 180 grain plated bullets? The suggested load ranges from my books is all over the place. As an example, Speer #14 ranges for TMJ 180's is 6.0gr-6.7gr (seems quite high compared to other resources). Gonna start at 5.3g and work up. My COL is 1.130 it seems.

My goal is about 850 fps.

Any thoughts?

These are for my USP .40 tactical...

Re: .40SW and Unique...

Thanks Bear..

Working on a little more speed with my follow up shots. Shot about 100 rounds with 5.3 gr unique and another 100 with 6.3 gr. Both worked well (100% reliability with both loads), but the 5.3's were noticeably lighter and a my drills went a bit better.

Was not able to set up my chrono so no real data to look at.

I'm just happy I seem to have found a safe range to work in.

I run 5.2 over Xtreme 180's or home cast 180's at 1.125. They're my go-to practice load - I've run thousands through my XDm.

ETA: 6.3 just seems pretty hot for plated 180's with Unique. Could be wrong, but I've never considered working up that high. YMMV of course.
