Here's A little bit in information for anybody wondering about the suppression that A 45 Can gives a 9mm host weapon. I did a decent amount of research before I purchased a G17 AAC threaded barrel and booster for my TI-RANT 45, some people said it would be louder then a 45 some some quieter. Using fiocchi 158 sub through a Glock 17 I was having cycling issues, A 14 lb recoil spring a SS recoil rod from Wolff seemed to fix that.

Dry was about the same suppression level as on my 45 USP Tactical
Wet was way quieter using wire pull gel.

If you only have one pistol can make sure its for a 45. The tirant 45 works excellent on all 9mm hosts. Not just a glock. Im not sure why AAC even makes 9mm tirants anymore. Or maybe thats why they have been practically giving them away to dealers lately.

+1 ^^^ the 115s are A LOT louder. I found some Hornady 135s that are wicked quiet and the gun barely moves. 147s are very quiet as well. I ran my TiRant 45 on a G19 and didn't have any cycling issues until I also tried the 158s. They had noticeable effect on the muzzle rise and recoil impulse compared to the 135s & 147s as well.

The only advantage I see is the length and weight issue between the 45 and 9mm cans. But it's negligible unless you really, really care that much to drop another $700 on a second pistol can.

Good info, ,,,been wondering about this and trying to get more reading done before putting down the funds. Would you get a 45 can even though you may never shoot 45 suppressed? I considered an osprey in 40, for that caliber and 9mm.

If I knew I was never going to shoot a 45 through it I would get a 9 for sure. Litter smaller and probably a decent amount quieter dry.

I have a video on my phone of my G19 wearing an Osprey in 45. It's still pretty loud. I'll upload to youtube when I get home this evening. Imo, buy both a 9mm can and a 45 can.

IMO, .40 cans are kinda pointless. Generally, they tend to be no smaller/lighter than .45 cans, and they aren't as flexible; by that I mean that you may not want to shoot .45 suppressed right now, but you may change your mind in the future (.45 is a GREAT round to suppress due to high bullet weights). Also, there's the 10mm angle (several .45 cans can also handle 10mm).

I have an Osprey in .45, and have honestly run more (147gr) 9mm through it than I have .45... at worst (dry first round pop) it sounds like a framing nailer. At best (wet), it sounds like a CO2 pistol. Regardless, it has proven to be completely hearing safe (with sub-sonic ammo) in 9mm, .40, and .45, and backyard approved in the 'burbs... ;-)

Excellent info BurnOut,

What you are saying does make sense, I spent some time watching the video on the silencerco website, It is hard to judge from videos the real amount of suppression, but the 45 can seemed to perform well. Specific caliber suppressors perform better from what I read, it is interesting to know from your experience that the performance difference may not be significant as you go from caliber to caliber. I like the osprey since I can keep my stock sights.
