I use a lot of rl16 and h4350 with 6.5 cm. The velocity thing is definitely true, however, I also find rl16 to be less temperature sensitive. However, both are great in this department.
You’re right, I was thinking RL17. Most reloader powders are unobtanium around me so I haven’t tried any of them except some RL22 I found to try in 300wm.
My current barrel has been nothing but H4350 and 140gr ELDMs. Barrel slowed down a bit from 2800 to about 2750. The other week I did a quick work up on RL16 was hitting around 2845 FPS and not even pushing it that hard. I'm almost positive you can fill it up to the top, slam a 140gr bullet in there and not get pressure with RL16. I'm trying to use up my H4350 then I might dig into my RL16 stockpile. It doesn't come around often and now it's crazy expensive.
I just opened my last 8 lb container of rl16 today. Like you, I was getting close to 2,850 in a 24" AI without reaching book max.
not a typo, I got the data from Hornady online app. They said max is 43.8, I kept going up till I had Pressure signs, I was able to get it as far as 44.5 before the groups blew out and the bolt handle got real tight. I have found that the Berger 140 VLD does better groups and I can get 2900fps + with the same charge.

Looks like the current 300 international benchrest record for (10) shots at 300 yards is .669 in HB class. That's 1.5x the size of the (20) shot group a few posts ago!

So @Ex E6 brotha...you might want to be investing in attending some various matches with your Aero build. Chances are you can not only be the next record holder, but also get paid for it. Or maybe you could post some videos and teach the rest of us your secrets. Ain't nobody else here can throw 20 rounds into a .139 MOA group!

I bought a box of Sierra match kings in 142g (I'm used to SMK .308 in 175g, man theyre long!) and seated one. It went up to .2925" but the bullet was super hard to seat so I think I'm gonna start with .291 for .0015" neck tension. Thanks for the help.
there will likely be some spring back after sizing, FYI. I just switched over to Lapua brass, mine was like .003-.0035 neck tension as virgin brass and was seating hard and when I pulled it there was pretty decent scraping down the bullet. I ran a .2625 mandrel on them all and put me at .002” neck tension.
