I have 500 SMK's in 77 grain .224 I bought for a 1/7 twist Ar I had.

I guess there is no point in even trying to load them for my new Rem 5R Mil Spec Rem 700? Any of you guys loaded 77 grainers for a 1/9?

Guess I should trade them for something more appropriate.

I've shot Hornady 75gr bullets in my 1:9" with decent results. I think you oughta try the 77gr pills, otherwise you'll never know.

If they don't work, I'd suggest the 69gr SMKs as a worthy contender for the 1:9 bore twist you have.

77 SMK will run out of a Rem 700 w/9 twist barrel.

Hornady 75 A-max may or may not, 75 BTHP will run.

VV N-140, RL-15, Varget, H4895.

What is your OAL to have 77 SMK touch lands in your 5R 223?

And my rem tactical also shoots them very well. Try them out, I was either loading varget or H335 and getting .6 to .75 moa at 300 last time I had it out.

You'll most likely be in the 2.350" OAL range.

2.260 OAL, Benchmark would be good choice.

RL-15 or N-140 if you can load out a bit longer.

What powder are you using?
