Just so I'm clear on this, so what you're saying is if the majority of the voter base doesn't agree 100% on everything with the candidate of their particular party they should just not vote at all? Got it.
No. I have never presumed to tell anyone to vote or not. I’m not interested in telling anyone how to live their lives. My explanations in these types of threads always start with why I don’t vote, nothing more and nothing less. It always turns into a shit fest with people calling me a traitor and commie and all these other toothless, straw man insults

Fuck you for trying to tell me how to vote. It’s called “freedom,” you idiot. I vote for who I want, you vote for who you want, and we both shut the hell up about it because ultimately, I’m free to vote for whoever the hell I damn well please. ‘Murica.

But you did, by calling them out for voting for the lesser of 2 evils.

WE are at the point where the rubber meets the road, and we must choose between a shit talking kinda tyrant ( whom i gladly voted for) or the shit left marxist libtards with their socialims./communism idealism narrative bs.

This, its just been a weird year. Normally Im on the "vote your principles" train, but with the looming threat of leftist insanity this was definitely a stronger "less of two evils" year for me.

I have called people out for that only after the arguments started getting heated. My bad, I guess. My original stance is that if you feel it is your civic duty to vote, then vote. But I won’t be compromising between a red tyrant or a blue tyrant. I totally understand that everything in life has trade offs, you’re talking to someone who believes in the supremacy of the incentives in the profit/loss mechanism. You may be at a point that you can make those trade offs, I’m not there yet

You might lose something that you can't replace in the meantime. Are you ok with that?

If a large group walked up to you and said you're going to be shot, you can pick either the head or the leg or let the group decide and majority rules, would you feel the same?

yeah but we arent talking about blending a baby....your argument falls apart instantly once you apply it to any other choice.

would you rather vote for the guy who will give you 70% of what you want?.....or 0%?........sure you can take your ball and run home......but you are still going to end up with 0% of what you want.

if you want to sit there and pretend you have some moral high ground by not voting for a candidate who has a chance.....fine.....but you arent fooling anyone.

fuck, Trump isnt even the lesser of 2 evils.......honestly hes been a fucking good president who people should actually be happy to vote for.

the only real criticism of him is people dont like his personality, or his tweets......and those people need to grow a fucking sack.... "oh trump is a bully!!!"......STFU soy boy

    everything else is MSM propaganda.

You can't seriously fucking believe that, right? Libertarians are against our endless wars and spending in the Middle East, and other forms of intervention. Basically, stop being the fucking world police and let other people deal with shit for once. There isn't a single Libertarian I'm aware of that doesn't believe in the National Defense.
That sounds a hell of a lot like, not-a libertarian, not-a-real-Republican D.J. Trump...?

Total bullshit. Libertarians don't own the judicious use of force, period. Even Jefferson attacked the Barbary Pirates. I've never heard of ANY conflict that libertarians supported. You can say that's because there's never been one worth fighting in your life, or whatever, but it's an empty platitude whereas Trump actually made this a policy.
Also, we're not now and have never been the "world's policeman". A policeman implies that there is some sort of organization that exercises police powers in pursuit of a common understanding of "justice". There isn't and there has never been, and there probably never will be, because our cultures on this rock are so very different.

What we are is more of a Territorial Marshal that goes out into the lawless wilds and drags criminals back to be judged by the civilized. Someone has got to do it and put out the little brush fires or history is unequivocal that they will become full blown infernos. What would history have been like if Hitler was crushed in his cradle by the French when he rearmed the Ruhr Valley?

Lots of times we fight for the history that isn't written, and if you think you have the lock on deciding when and where that is I have a bridge to sell you. When the whole country believes there is nothing worth fighting for you will get your wish, and that's right at the point where everything will colapse. Just as ANTIFA and BLM hate this country and it's people, when this becomes the norm, and those of us who love it are outnumbered by the pacifists and anti-Americans, we're finished. It's a lot close than it was, but it's not today.

    Let's take a poll.
    1. How many libertarians are married?
2 How often do you get everything you want in this marriage?( truthfulness is next to Godliness)
    3. Have you had to compromise with your desired results at work?
All these are life choices and considered important.
I'd guess they'll last longer than 4 years as well.

Meh, vote how you want. Its absolutely 100% your right.

But it can still be discussed as dumb, short-sighted, overly idealistic and completely detached from reality.

The 2 things arent mutually exclusive IMO.

I'm with the OP. Fuck libertarians that voted third party. This is coming from a self proclaimed libertarian.

I expect that kind of ideological nonsense from college professors who live in the bubble of the academic world. Not from the rest of us. This is the real world, where there are consequences for our actions and we don't always get everything we want. Does Trump say stupid shit? Yeah, he does. Does he tweet all sorts of shit that he shouldn't? Yes. Undeniably. Is he a better choice than Biden/Harris? Fuck yes.... FUCK. YES.

I don't want to do taxes for a living. I don't want to drive a 2012 Toyota Yaris either. I feel like half a fag scooting around in a giant little roller skate. I do it anyway because I have kids, I make a good living and the odds of becoming a rock star at 35 are about as slim as a libertarian being elected president. So I suck it up like an adult ought to and make decisions based on what's going leave myself and my family in a better position than the alternative. Save the ideological bullshit and act objectively.

Instead, you cut off your nose to spite your face. Your votes could have gone to Trump and prevented this shit storm, but instead you had to cling on to your ideals and in doing so fucked this country over. You might as well be a libtard as far as I'm concerned. Grow up, and.....

    A BIG. FUCK. YOU.

Hopefully one day AOC and "the squad" will be dumb enough to split off into a newly minted socialist party. If that happens, I can see merit to voting libertarian in the future. Until then, cut the bullshit and act like a goddamn adult.

Their handlers are not dumb enough to let that happen.
They will slowly get rid of all the old guard in the Democrat Party and take it over completely, still call it the Democrat Party, but it will be for all intents and purposes, fully the Communist Party.

Tell you what. If you want to force me to vote for either a giant douche or a turd sandwich, change the voting laws. Start a petition in your neighborhood, drum up enough support. Take it through the state and into the federal level. Get a new law passed to force more shit on people that will “save their freedoms” or whatever lip service you’re talking about. Then I’ll hold my nose and vote. Until then, piss off and a big fuck off back at ya

I just said I’m a libertarian too. I don’t want to force you to do anything. If you don’t want to vote or vote third party you should have every right to abstain or vote for whoever you want.

If you want to douse yourself in gasoline and jump through a bonfire that’s ok by me too. I just think you’re an idiot for doing so. Same applies to throwing away your vote.

If something is a crime, some one is a victim. Even if it's the person committing the crime. Calling it victimless is just putting lipstick on a pig to justify something you want.

If no one was actually hurt by a particular behavior, there wouldn't be a law in place, or it would have lng since been repealed.

    JMTCW...

    This is incorrect.
There are lots of laws with no victims. The judicial system even has a name for them, malum prohibitum laws, which translates into wrong because it's prohibited, as opposed to malum in se, which is wrong in itself.

no one is forcing you to do a damn thing.....doesnt mean we cant question your choices

this is just like the people who dont vote because they dont have the balls to support a candidate.....sure you dont want to vote for an asshole....well one of those assholes is going to be my president anyways, so it behooves me to choose one of them.

also, dont have any disillusions that the LP candidates arent also assholes......they arent some magical uncorruptable unicorn, rests assured if a LP candidate got into any significant office, they would be just as swampy as and R or D.

    In your head
Four years of negatively and lies by the propaganda networks, the DNC, the lack of support from the gop and countless other attacks. With that said.... Trump won the election in 16 with around 60 million votes. All the bullshit thrown at him including a sham impeachment and the sham virus and somehow he increased his voter base by 10 plus million.
Placing blame for the loss on the libertarians is misguided.
There's plenty of people here in the Hide that said they would not vote for him because of his tweets and a dozen other bullshit excuses.
There's plenty of groups or whatever to point fingers at. But they should be pointing mainly at the first list of people above.

What Government overreach? You mean States doing what States are allowed to do in a Republic.

Trump is the first president in over 100 years that Actually works for the people that elected him. Not big business, not wall street, not tech, not the Intel community, not special interests.

He is literately the only thing standing between your individual rights and Tyranny.

You fucking clowns need your heads examined.

All of this infighting is another reason why the Democrats will continue to kick our asses. United we stand divided we fall is not just a catchy slogan.

Both Libertarians and Republican parties have their flaws. Republicans are generally spineless and are more willing to give up a little bit more every day and the hopes that the left will stop taking more. Libertarians generally can't get their shit together or agree on what the fuck the party platform should be anymore so we end up with people I Gary Johnson who I could not fucking stand and Jojo who I was moderately OK with.

Once again instead of arguing back-and-forth about who is at fault for this why don't we admit the blame lands at our feet for allowing this corruption to flourish and start figuring out how the hell we're going to help prove and end the rigging of elections, and the loss of liberty. Are you guys too afraid of putting in the work and making a sacrifice to try and fix this nation... or are those Americans all gone?

I was looking at election results in swing states and was disappointed to see that in several key races the libertarian vote for Jo Jorgensen was enough to make up the delta between Trump and Biden and keep Trump in office. Arizona, Georgia, Wisconsin, and Nevada are all close enough that the libertarian vote is more than the delta. The disappointing part is that most libertarians I have spoken with are much closer to the Republican party than the Democratic party. 1.74 million people wasted a vote either in protest or for a third party they knew couldn’t win.

You are all missing the point. They only cut down on the number of fake ballots that the dems needed to magically find. What is the difference between 109% voter turnout and 115%?

You're welcome. I just received notice I'll be upgrading to the wife's old Honda Odyssey minivan since she just got a new car. I removed the vinyl disney family stickers and I feel better about it already.

Wow, only one guy/libertarian wanted to answer the above.
    Wonder why.

So you're saying you aren't getting every thing you want even if it is the woman you chose?

It helps when you have been working on them for 30+ years.
That does make it an easy choice. I’ve been a mechanic for 20 years and 13 of those were on euro cars too

When Democrats are stripping the right to due process for college men, voting libertarian makes you a fascist.

I say this as somebody was was registered L for many years, worked with the libertarian party etc. there just isn’t an excuse at this point.

Maybe they didn’t want to compromise themselves by voting for a giant douche or a turd sandwich

And what the fuck did their ideological purity get them?

Can you please answer that for us all?

Read the writings of Rothbard et al on this. Your position is untenable amongst even the non bargaining strain of libertarian who never managed to garner any influence. Among the bargainers, Hayek et al, it doesn’t even make sense. I’ve read your posts, and I try not to be a dick on here, but you just don’t seem smart enough to go much past grunting slogans. Those who have more intellectual horsepower have almost always understood the difference between the city in speech and the city in deed, and have understood that Making compromises to ensure core beliefs is necessary if we are to get closer to those beliefs in the end.

Libertarian morons today set equal the desire to smoke dope and the right to due process. Their intellectual forefathers would be ashamed.

To make it easier to understand, modern libertarians have made voting a death pact that excludes all of the human ability to analyze and prioritize that characterized Mises thinking. They have taken his brilliance and used it as an excuse for their stupidity. Bravo and pass the bong.

For this thread, I'll put on my kevlar and drop this article by a Canadian Feminist Libertarian.

In my mind blind devotion to either party is big problem these days. That being said ... I didn't vote Libertarian even though voting for a Republican president in Washington State is kind of a wasted effort at the end of the day it is important to pick a side that at least has a chance of winning. I will always be a Libertarian at heart.
