Range Report A Place to Start

Well, I was at the range yesterday working on a ladder test for the .308 and thought that I would test drive the .300wm, as I would like to get more proficient out around 800 before elk season. Now, I grant you that this is only a two shot group, but it is done with a bone stock Browning Stainless Stalker and 4200 Elite set at 2.5x with 180gn Sierra Game Kings running about 3075fps. I thought that it was a pretty goodplace to start, especially for a hunting rig and hunting bullets and not some tricked out custom. After I saw this, I am ready to get down to business, and see if I can make this a regular occurrence!

So these are from 800 yds? Should have shot more to see if it was luck or if it really shoots that good.

I wish!!! They were from 300yds. I had the scope dialed back to 2.5X and could actually see the muzzle break in the lower portion of the FOV. Made sure vertical post was centered with bore, prior to breaking the shot.

Makes me want to play hookey and shoot some more.
