I won an auction on GunBroker for a set of (3) screws for a Remington Model 700 ADL. I sent payment and received only 2 screws. Only thing is I can't for certain verify that they even go to my gun because I haven't acquired the action yet. With that said an ADL model is just that right? I was attempting to find the screws location based on what components I have which is a stock Synthetic and it says Rem. Standard short (ADL style with no hinged floor plate) on the inside near the fore end and a ADL trigger guard. Trigger guard has a larger hole in the front and smaller diameter hole in the rear. The screws I have in hand are a Short fat one probably 3/4" in length and a has a slightly larger slotted head and the other is about an 1 1/4" maybe and has a reduced slotted head. The longer one is too long to go in the fore end because it will block the chamber and it can't go in the rear action hole because the trigger guard hole is too small and the shorter screw I can't seem to find where it would fit anywhere.

With this in mind and sorry for being redundant, I call the seller and he wants me to take some measurements and is trying to tell me that Rem has about 4 different screw lengths for what I need. So i could presumably go through 4 sets of screws to find the right ones? He is also wanting me to send back the 2 screws he sent me along with the measurements and pictures of what I am talking about. He says he builds sniper rifles. I am not a smith but am pretty mechanically inclined and can piece this together but it is hard to explain to someone on the phone about what the problem is.

There are 3 screws possible for what you're dicussing.

2 are the same thread size/width, one longer than the other. Longer one goes in the rear.

1 of them is obviously not like the other two, much smaller in diameter, and goes in the forward hole of the adl trigger guard. Don't tighten it much, just snug.

I actually need all three. I only have 1 that looks like the one pictured and that is my trigger guard also pictured. I think this fella from Gun Broker is a flake and I am giving his screws back and getting my money returned.

For the action screws you can go to the hardware store and get 1/4-28 screws and cut to size. That way you can use a cap screw and torque with an allen.
Never replaced the lomg skinny, but I always replace the action screws.
