Accuracy International AT-XC

NRL OL is possible with an ATXC if you’re willing to get creative.

Gunwerks elevate 2.0 bipod with an adapter to run it on arca. This adds 2.4 oz over direct pic mounting it. So that’s some spare weight to pull out if someone’s scale is off at a match.

MHSA has had payment in full from me for a couple of spare AT triggers since July 2024 and I’m still waiting. I’m NOT happy about it and will never do that again 😡

If I could just get them to refund me and simply go without the triggers I would.

I mean If they don’t have them, and can’t deliver them, they can’t keep the money. I’d call them and just get them to refund.

AINA needs to unfuck themselves.

You're right and I just sent MHSA an email asking for a date or a refund as 30+ weeks is just stupid for a couple of triggers. I also still can't believe that the US service center didn't have any of them on hand. If as a company AI can't/won't supply the parts then stop letting people backorder them through the dealers.

My spare lock rings took 12 weeks to get from Sporting Services UK which was still dumb, however, at least I got them and it was only 20% down with the rest due when they were received.

I've come to the conclusion that AI will never be easy to work with and that I should give up on them to ever change.

I’ve been an AI nut for a lot of years now but the fact that they miss delivery dates by months on end, lack of spare parts, and just a general poor attitude towards customers has kinda made me just loose interest in the company and the rifles. I truly appreciate their systems approach to the rifle and its robust design but after a few years of their continued lack of support and continued delay of delivery on virtually everything I have just plain lost interest in them unfortunately.

I’ve been an AI fanatic for 25+ years now but they make it very difficult to remain a fan.

So I’ve got a regular (non-comp) AI trigger on backorder from MH too. Since July 2024. After reading your post and doubting it, I called MH to doublecheck that I can indeed cancel and get a refund in the future if I so choose to.

And they said “Sure.“

So don’t worry.

I’m keeping the backorder because the second I cancel, my trigger will shit the bed lol.

I think that’s the thing (if you’re not a lefty, at least). Buy accessories and little replacement parts far in advance. Treat AI like NFA items through the ATF; order and forget about it.

Lefties, however, gotta be downright masochistic to love AI, man.

Why won't AINA sell certain parts (ie lock rings) and make me go to Sporting Services UK to get them instead since even MHSA can't order them in the US?

AI needs to get their $hit together if they want to retain customers. They're $5K+ rifles and I don't want to have to rely on AINA being around in 20 years if I need a firing pin or trigger someday as I'd rather buy them now and put them in the safe. I've never had a good experience with AINA in the half dozen times I've contacted them over the years.

First, sorry to hear about your struggles man. Unfortunately, this is nothing new and AI makes their money selling stuff to militaries and agencies. If you want fantastic customer support, you'll have to look at a different company or get a custom rifle made from a reputable 'smith. That isn't a bash on AI...at this point, we should all know what we are getting into.

I say this, and my dumb ass bought a Sako TRG recently...so I must be a really slow learner.

I said it above, I really like my AT-X. But I had an excessive copper fouling issue with my factory 6.5CM barrel and I got (0) returns on my voicemail and email that I left AINA about it. So, I gave up on that tube and continued marching on. At least I have the quick change ability, and a new barrel is only about a $1K setback by the time it is all said and done.

Posted on Pg 103 of the AT-X thread IIRC. Excessive enough that I stuck a patch after round #4. I don't blame AI on the roughness of the barrel, they didn't make it. I just never heard back...and that is where my issue arose.

My grievance to air this festivus is- why the f*** can’t we get dark earth mags anymore but plenty of hideous green ones?

Like I could see if the England Mothership took the Henry Ford approach and just went all black mags only, but they keep the ugly green 🤨 just not dark earth that actually blends into real life environments

As a long time bullpup and SRS guy and a new AT-XC owner, this warms my heart…and begs the question: where do you guys get custom barrels made for this platform?

In my case- bought a used Proof barrel from the Px here. Kinda blows my mind more mfg don't have ready-to-order barrels in the 16-20" varieties for hunters. Not everyone wants a 24"+ for everything these days, it is time MFG's realize this. And like how hard is it for Proof and Bartlein to offer direct-to-consumer barrels in the popular rifle actions? Improvement needed here.

To the AT-XC owners who are also atx or former atx owners, is the action truly smoother to operate? Less bolt lift and closure forces on the new updated and notably more expensive XC model?

I never owned an AT-X, my prior AI's were AT's and AX's but I have a lot of time on a buddies AT-X and it's definitely an improvement. I don't think it's markedly better but it's better, maybe 20-30% lighter?!

I agree, it would be nice to have shorter options in calibers aside from 308. I understand the immense SKU database they'd have to have in order to serve all makes in that manner but at least one shorty option would be nice.

I don't own an XC but have trigger time on one. I'd agree the lift was noticably lighter and that 20-30% estimate seems fair. Smoothness is the same, all AIs are a bit rough out of the box until the finish in the action and on the bolt wears in some. And the giant ball felt very different.

I never had an At-X model but the AT-XC still feels stout on the bolt lift vs other actions. That said- I really am not bothered by it- use your cheek pressure on the stock etc. to run the action without disturbing the gun

He also stated the bolt lift didn’t feel any different than his AT-X at 20:45.

The host didn’t seem to have as many same hitch issues. Maybe the gun was more broken in and he filmed the sections out of sequence? Or to me it looked like the host was running it quite a bit harder than the PRS guy. The host did have a hitch at 17:20, however.

I'm sure you've seen the video review. Sounds like maybe a sample size issue, or just needs to be broken in. I'd really like to know what the ATXC will be after it's broken in.

I still have under 400 rounds on mine, finding time to get to the range lately has been a battle. After 1000 or more I'd feel more confident about giving an honest review in that regard.

I love the bigger bolt handle ball, it makes for easier manipulation IMHO. That's an easy swap for any AI owner though so it's not an upgrade proprietary to the XC only.

I've got about 2k rounds on my atx, still runs like a 1903 Enfield. It's just the way they are. Rough grade tools that go bang when you need em too.

That was my biggest gripe about my ATX. Opening the bolt even after dry firing was like opening it after an over pressured round. Thats the biggest reason I sold it. It just sold again in px from the guy who bought it back in August

Trigger was phenomenal, overall feel and build was phenomenal, however the action ruined it for me

Both my 2014 AT’s are probably half the effort to operate the action. Really noticeable when shooting off barricades. Had to use the thumb on the action trick to keep it steady when load testing

Currently using mine as a prs trainer, but when the 6br barrel is toast, I'll put it on a fire sale to move it. Had it listed some time back with 2x barrels lots of accessories, for under 4k, no sale, so kept it. It'll be moving no matter what this time.

I tested my AT-X bolt lift with a trigger scale, and did my TRG 22 A1 at the same time. The AI was 11.5lbs, and the Sako was 9.1 IIRC. There are things that I certainly like more about my AT-X (LOP and cheek adjustment 'tightness' for sure). However, that Sako will have you checking to see whether or not you actually picked up a round it is that smooth. That is saying a lot because the AI is extremely smooth itself. I'd love to see a comparison between the new AT-XC and TRG.

Amazingly, I don't really like the comp trigger on the AI. It is clean-braking and extremely light, so I would expect most guys to love it. It is just that MY hands are so beat up that I don't have a lot of feeling in them. I so frequently pull through the wall on accident trying to register it, that I just account for it happening now. I need a 2-3lb trigger, and I shoot those just as well. I know this puts me at odds with most other dudes.

Bunch of places make top-notch barrels for the AT-XC. Manzella, and Matt Stewart are my top two...but that doesn't mean that they are the only two. Whichever of those two dudes though that can get you a barrel faster is the way I'd probably go.

+1 for Manzella

Was only a couple weeks for my 260 barrel. I bought the blank from him as well

One of the biggest benefits to the AI system is a plethora of smiths who can spin up prefits with a great reputation

Manzella and Black Canyon are my current go to

Bugholes is another I wouldn’t hesitate to try
