ATX 26" 6BR 108gr ELDM. Refined, heavy bastard. Ran in the new HardyNZ barrel today with 200 rounds, season finale this weekend.
AXSR 26" 300PRC 210gr VLD Hunter. Sleek, 'light' and glorious. This is the first rifle to leave the safe most of the time.
How you finding the Hardy barrel?
I'm guessing you didn't have to send your rifle from Aus to NZ to get it fitted? They just did it as a prefit?

In this article I break down every bit of kit that will be issued with the Australian Defence Force AXSR issue.

Includes pictures.

The NZ army recently annouced they'll be purchasing the Barret MRAD, interesting that they don't seem to care about having commonality with the Aussies anymore.

I forgot where I read this existed, but I figured I'd ask before dusting off the hand drill...

Which company was it that offers the RRS ARC hole service for the AXSR RRS forend? AKA Which company is drilling holes in the bottom of the AXSR forend for the ARC system?

...or was I hallucinating again?

@Fred @ Bison Tactical drilled his AT-X I believe, he might offer that service.

Moa scope? Surely you jest sir.....
Yea I just grew up with it since I was a kid hunting. Never got around to making the switch. Though it gets the impacts done at so that’s all that matters. What about you, your AO chassis making you shoot better?

I am better than all of you now. Sold my AI and now am rocking the Savage 😤View attachment 7987379
That Spuhr may be worth more than the entire rifle. Don’t think I’ve ever seen that combo before!

And I laughed at the tenuous mounting solution lol

Gonna miss seeing ol’ Elite Sand AX around here. Is the new ATX also the Sand of the Elite?

Yup, $50 on an AI is a drop in the ocean as said already.
The thumbrest is awesome. It’s functional as the thumb is at readiness to lever/ cycle the bolt. It also seems to be a natural position for me and clearly many others.
I can’t reconcile why AI didn’t make provision for them on the new models…
I also enjoy the retro thumbhole stocks so I’ve the best of both worlds.
Do you or anyone else that uses the thumb rest miss the fact that you no longer have the retention feature for the butt stock when folded?

So I shot my Ax with its AI 26” bartlein barrel today.

Only had access to FGMM 130 gr bergers, and some 140 gr match.

Rifle didn’t want to seem to shoot much better than an inch with these two loads…..

is the hornady match that much better of a loading?

I was expecting 1/2 moa, not barely 1 moa.

What’s your guys experiences with the fgmm loadings?

I did not miss the retention feature on my AX. But I only folded the buttstock to clean the barrel.

I can tell you that just shooting factory Hornady 140gr ELD I've been consistently getting less than 0.5MOA, so something definitely seems off.

I ordered a couple of boxes of the FGMM with the 130 grain Bergers. Should be here next week. I have shot the Berger made cartridge with the 130 several times with great (<0.5 MOA) success. Hornady 140 ELDM is my go to as it always shoots great.

My “retro”, retrofit of the plastic Thumbhole stock folds left so I still have a capturing folder if I choose to use it.
Having said that, I also just use the folder to clean including on my Vision AT+AX buttstock that has lost the retainer to the thumbrest. Don’t miss it.

Have only fired 200 rounds through it so far (fire forming virgin lapua) but, it did put out a 10 shot 0.45 MOA group at 100m with 108gr ELDM and zero load development... It was 'prefit' by APRS (a reputable gunsmith) down here in Australia based off one of their shop AI AT's.

The 6BR is a 2023 project, hoping to get that going as the go-to PRS barrel.

As others have stated, I also only fold mine for cleaning. That being said, in my experience the AI folding mechanism is so tight that I'd say the retention 'feature' is pretty unnecessary anyway.
