I'm getting ready to scratch the itch to buy an AI. Wondering if anyone in the Phoenix AZ area would be willing to let me handle theirs before I drop AI Money. I just want to be sure it is the route I want to go.

Natrully ill buy whatever ammo you approve of and you keep the brass or I'll pay you what you need for your handloads. Thank you.

Please PM if you are willing to help

SNAFU308, if you don't mind me asking, how did you get the RRS adaptors into Australia? I'm really interested in one.

We are DEFINITELY going to need more pictures of this gorgeous AX in its natural habitat. I am on the fence between Sage Green and Elite Sand. Only pictures of the Elite Sand I can find are of the AX50 from Shot Show under artificial light. I am on the waiting list for the LH AXMC so I have a while before I have to make the decision. Anxiously await your updates!

Got you covered on the Elite Sand as I just took delivery of it on Friday. It's 1 of 3 rifles in Elite Sand currently in the US, the other 2 are in the AI vault. Here's a pic of my shooting partner giving it a run today at the range.

The color seems different in different lighting (gray/green) and I really, really like the new color option.

I was never able to post my baby on the scout website, so I would now like to officially submit my AIAW.

It took a while to get it to this point but it was well worth the effort.

Accuracy International AW (2012)

Nightforce NXS 5.5-22x50

Stock sides Cerakoted by Midway Firearm Refinishing-Midlothian ,Tx

Sling by BlueForce

Atlas bipod with spigot .

Originally, the rifle came with a 24" unthreaded barrel, but I was able to pick up the Pale Brown 20" barrel with the factory muzzle brake for an excellent price. This rifle also came with the quick adjust cheek rest and butt pad . The rifle was a pawn shop find and I got it for a very good price. Originally, I planned on switching to the pistol grip type stock in order to update the looks and make it resemble an AT. I was able to get them from Mile High and I had them cerakoted patriot brown , but when I saw how the camo job came out on the original thumb hole stocksides I was hooked .

Thank you for posting this picture and your description. Very sexual. I know pictures don't do it justice just as the Sage Green is so confusing as it looks completely different dependent upon the background in the pictures. That picture of Elite Sand looks so much better outside in the sunlight than in those pictures from Shot. Two weeks ago I ordered some swatches from Cerakote of which Elite Sand was one of them. Although they are very small samples, outside against a natural background with greens, browns, and tans I definitely saw the green hue it takes on that you mention. I really like it. Elite Sand was my first choice when I got onto the waiting list and now I'm even more excited about it. It is an awesome color of which I can't wait to see on the rifle in person! Thanks again for your reply, posting this picture and of course when you get more pictures of this rifle, post them!

Picking mine up in a couple weeks. So that just means i will look at this thread everyday and loose tons of sleep haha

Here's mine and she's a keeper. Picked her up just recently and worked up a load for the 24" 6.5 creedmoor barrel and waiting on my 20" 308 barrel. Best rifle I've ever owned and worth every penny. Going to snag another barrel for it as funds allow.

I started with the standard ATLAS bipod mounted to a bottom rail but found it a little wobbly. I switched to the 5H with the spigot when it came out and it really helped with stability. Only issue is the spigot can get a little loose so you have to periodically tighten it down.

Wouldn't use anything else for shooting from prone or a bench.

Quick question...I am hoping this left sided folder can be switched for the right sided folding skeletonized version when the rifle arrives. Am I correct this can be done? Thanks.

Currently, no. It is possible but you have to un-bond the hinge and to my knowledge you cannot get the skeletonized stock unless you buy an entire chassis and take it off. There is a thread going about this now and Tom Irwin with AI in exploring a package that would let us buy just the skeletonized stock.

This is what I thought. Thank you for sharing the link to the other thread. I will look that over for sure. Have a good weekend!

My new AT, which I would describe, in one word as: A W E S O M E

Why did I wait so long to get one?

Added the new LRA Send iT level today and tested it out, perfect complement to the AT.

Have had my AI/AT for only a few months and simply LOVE it.Just noted the AX rail is much longer. I learned that the short rail on the AI/AT allows for much lower rings to be used when mounting a scope compared to my earlier experience mounting a large objective scope on my 1st generation RPR. I am very interested in more experienced users of this type of rifle whether this is of any practical importance. I am biased by my always liking to have my scopes on hunting rifles mounted as low as practical, seems to work better for me and I think there is consensus with regard to hunting rifles at least lower scope mounting is better.
Thanks for your input/advice,
An elderly newbie:)

I run everything as low as possible. I think when I had my AT I ran 1.125" rings with a 56mm objective before I got my SPUHR mount.

Lower is better with rifles that don't have adjustable cheek pieces, but with the AT and AX rifles they give you adjustability so the ring height doesn't really matter. The only
reason the rail height is so high on the AX is because it is a continuous 20MOA cant for a forward NV device. If one wanted to (and I have seen it here and there), the front rail on the forend tube of the AX can be removed so that lower rings can be used.

I have the Spuhr 1.18" mount on my AT, and I couldn't go much lower without removing the spacer under the cheek piece. The AX requires a 1.50" mount for the same 56mm objective scope.

Do you have the 20moa rail on your AT? What model Spuhr do you have?

Yes, 20 MOA rail on the AT. I have the Spuhr SP-4006, 0 MOA with 1.35" high 34mm rings. Fits perfectly for me, just the right height for all shooting positions. I also mounted the Spuhr pic-rail so I could mount the level.
