Accuracy International Picture Thread

@NoLegs24 why would you want to avoid? Or were you joking ? It’s heavier than my RRS but it’s a beast and so stable.

Nope, not joking. The twist locks are on the slippery side and would not hold the legs in place. The ones I've used. We had to use some since it was a stage prop and 1 of tripods broke. A lot of guys were pissed, LOL. For the price they're charging, you think you'd get your moneys worth. Sure, its stable. But that has more to do with the weight, and width of the setup.

Guys ended up throwing a bag over the center column vs using the leveling base/ clamps.

An RRS Tripod+Anvil setup would easily smoke it.

Throw back Thursday to this day in 2018 when I still used inch scopes

Picked up the AXSR today. 300WinMag with a 300PRC proof carbon and 6.5CM (now waiting on the 308 bolt). Cerakoted by Delta Tactical here in Australia.

Hopefully get a chance to run it in when our baby arrives (should have been a few days ago! Everything happens at the same time around here).

Nice.

That Cerakote job was done very well 👍

Hello folks. I’m a newbie on this site but I wanted to share my recent happiness with you. Last weekend I popped out onto our long range at Stickledown, Bisley (UK) with my club for a shoot starting at 900 yards, falling back to 1,000 yards.

At 900, for a change, I did quite well despite dialling the wrong direction for windage (6MOA) on the first shot but I quickly realised my mistake and sorted it out. The first group of 9 scored me a shabby 43.4, but the second group of 10 shot at 900 yards made me very happy with a respectable 50.9. To date, that is the best score I have ever achieved at range and it did make me smile.

Moving back to 1,000 yards, all my luck was cast to the wind and the score was so shameful I refuse to share it.

I am looking forward to when I next get the chance to visit the States for some freedom time on your ranges.
Cheers.

Ran the 300PRC proof barrel in this morning. Heavy fog limited visibility to about 130m, could barely see the target until 12 noon. 3oC (35oF approx) beautiful still morning.

Rounds 4-6 were ‘.817 MOA’
Rounds 7-9 were ‘.709 MOA’

According to BallisticX. The first group of 3 was rubbish at about 50mm but that’s ok. Quick basic clean in between lots, the barrel will no doubt settle down fairly soon, then drop validation and the rest can begin.

New rifle, new trigger, new barrel, new ergonomics, fog, tight for time, difficult position to get comfortable in, very happy considering... No doubt I was the weak link this morning.

Recoil is very mild with the 212gr ELDX Precision Hunter Hornady ammo through the sidewinder brake, was expecting a bit more bite. It feels more like a spicy 308 but not a magnum.

Overall, loving the AXSR so far, fantastic rifle.

Awesome setup man.
When you did your weight pic of 8195g, was that with the bipod as well?

Question for AXMC owners. What kind of barrel life are you getting out of your 338LM barrel on average? I just scoped mine and I am getting "fire cracking" just forward of the throat. I am not sure how many rounds I have down the tube on mine, quite counting after the 500 mark.
The barrel still holds sub MOA vertical dispersion at 1000 yrds but is starting to foul up easily( my range sessions are usually 50-60rnds of 300gr projo's running 2650-2750fps depending on the load.) I am going to run it till it hits over 1MOA dispersion, just trying to decide when to start looking for a new barrel.

Thanks in advance.

Thanks brother, very happy!

8195gm:
Base rifle, bolt in
26” proof carbon prefit barrel
Area419 sidewinder with adapter collar
Unloaded 300wm magazine
NF Beast with ARD & caps
MDT CkyePod (standard) arca mount
Spuhr 4603B

Magazines with 10x 300PRC rounds are 565gm approx.

Base rifle with bolt in, 300WM steel 26” barrel and APA brake with empty 300wm magazine is 7,140gm (15.75lb).

I haven’t weighed the barrels separately yet, will do that this morning.

My short action AX with 26” steel barrel, ATACR 7-35 and some bits is even heavier which is strange and surprising! 9,340gm.

1500-2000 roughly, but that’s highly dependent on a lot of factors. Not really anything to do with it being an AXMC, but rather basic physics and metallurgy.

Shoot it until you feel it’s no longer viable.

That throwback Thursday photo reminded me of this one that I grabbed from somewhere a while ago. Bit of a weird setup but also interesting, anyone know if the NV mount is factory?

Looks like the Cadex rail

I got my 338 barrel with 900 rounds through it and it shot fine. I shoved another 500 or so down it and it started opening up and needed constant seating depth tweaks to keep it in line. I gave up on it at ~1600 rounds, So this is pretty accurate.

Inspired by the PROOF Research paint jobs they offer on their complete rifles. The AI distributor in Australia are also the Proof dealer and Cerakote applicator so it worked out well.

Our team guns all run Proof barrels, we think they shoot very well straight out of the box and I've had only good experiences with their quality and pre-fit ease of use in the AT, AXSA, AXMC and now AXSR.

Base coat, then stencil (10,000 dots!) then top colours. 4 in total I believe.

AXSR is retail sold through Accuracy International North America by Mile High & Euro Optic. Full key-slot rail as above. Imperial and metric bolts. American muzzle brakes (APA / Area419 etc. Some components are made in the UK.

AX MKIII will be from Accuracy International in the United Kingdom and their dealers. MKIII has some subtle changes, different forend rail with a mostly enclosed top half, different shaped stock and trigger guard etc. They haven't quite yet hit the retail floor yet. Metric bolts throughout most likely. AI tactical muzzle brake.
