I am thinking about buying something in 7.62X39. Oh course, my first thought was to get an AK. Then I started looking into the most accurate AKs, the highest quality, price, etc. I like the Arsenal with the ambi safety, but I find it hard to pay $2000 dollars for an AK. My brother in law has an AK that he paid $500 for. I believe it is a Century. Anyways, He has upgraded to the newest model of the 556R. He claims it is just as reliable and way more accurate.

Give some advice on an AK vs the 556R. If I go AK, I want it to be accurate. 1.5-1 MOA is fine. From the reviews I see, this is very obtainable with newer, American made Aks.

I have strictly been an AR guy until now. 10.5" Custom Seekins SBR in 5.56 and .308 Sig 716. I will be dressing my AK up and swapping the upper receiver for a railed one. Hince, should I just get a 556R?

I have (3) AK's and a SIG 556R Gen2. I installed the Browe BCO 4X LED optic on my 556R which makes accurate hits extremely easy out to 500+ yards. I ran my 556R/Browe combo in two rifle gun fighting training classes without issue. Training was from 3 yds to 100 yds and the rifle did great. I shoot everything from steel case to Lapua brass ammo. You will achieve 1 MOA accuracy with Lapua ammo out of the 556R and good optic at 100 yds. Have about 3000 rounds through mine without a single problem, FTF or FTE.

I've installed the DDLES adapter on mine to allow for the Magpul CTR stock installation, a Hogue grip, AAC Blackout and Blue Force Gear Vickers padded 2 point sling. I run steel and Circle 10 mags out of my gun.

I love my 556R so much I am in the process of selling one of my AK's to my father in law so I can pick up another 556R but SWAT model this time (SIG QUAD rail instead of plastic handguards).

I'll confirm everything Padom just said. I also have a high-end Arsenal AK SGL-21-94 with a T1 Aimpoint that hasn't seen day light since I got my 2nd gen 556R topped with the same Browe BCO that's calibrated for the 7.62x39

The difference for me was the Browe optic. The Browe BCO 4X LED 7.62x39 cost me $1200 shipped but is crystal clear and has an illuminated Chevron reticle that has an auto brightness setting that works great. Going from a dark room to full sunlight the chevron goes from light to dark. Put the chevron center mass and you have an accurate hit every time. I was able to shoot 5 head shots from 100 yards with war belt on after running through an entire Obstacle course starting at 5 yards working back to 100yds. Nobody else in the class even went for the 100 yard head shots with their AK's and AR's. This is where I bought my Browe BCO 7.62x39 but I paid $1185.00 + shipping. It dropped $135 this week.

Padom,

Yeah the Browe kicks butt...being the lead designer for Trijucon for years certainly helped.

Question: does your new Magpul stock fold? I'm 6ft 2in guy + the sig stock is a little short for me. Your stock seems like a great solution for a short LOP

Did you modify an AK Hogue grip to fit that 556R? The grip on mine is one thing I really don't care for, but I can't seem to find a grip for the 556R listed on Hogue's website ? ?

Yes, the Magpul stock does fold just like the swiss stock.

No, Hogue just released a SIG 556 grip in the past 2-3 months. They have a normal and finger groove version available. I did notice they were out of stock at a lot of places. I actually bought both versions and ended up using the finger grooves version as it fits my large hands better. I still have the SIG 556 Hogue non-finger groove grip in the package if you want to buy it. PM me.

I find even 1.5 moa out of a 7.62x39 AK hard to believe. My Arsenal seems to be more of a 3 moa rifle, which for what I use it for, it is perfect. Achieving under 2 moa with a RPK I could believe. Correct me if I'm wrong...

i shoot groups like this everytime i take my polish ak-74 out to shoot it, i pulled the shot to the left it was the last shot too oh well.
my ak-47 style(7.62X39) shoots right at 1.5 MOA consistently.
