I recently had S&S precision re-barrel my rifle with a Kreiger Remington Varmit Contour with 5R rifling in 30-06. Stick and his crew at S&S precision are primarily benchrest shooters and they told me that the barrel will last around 1900 rounds. That seems low for a 30-06, does anyone have experience with a 30-06 barrel life. I shoot 180 gr Accubonds out of it with RL-22 with 60.5 gr pushing them at 2761 fps, and 208gr A-Max's with 56.5 gr of RL-22 pushing them at 2569fps, so nothing crazy hot. I usually don't shoot more then a round every 2 minutes.

What some bench rest shooter consider a worn out barrel ..... most average shooters would hunt with for another 20 years.

But I'm also looking for sub-moa performance life of the barrel. The rifle and myself, can shoot 0.5-0.6" 5 shot groups, and I'm wondering how long that will last.
I'm not however looking for benchrest comp. accuracy life of the barrel which is probably better than I'll ever be able to shoot myself anyways.

Did a 100 yd accuracy check about the time my 30-06 passed 4K rounds. It was still holding under .5 moa.
